Memorial services for Mr. Carl A. Benjamin, 65, of 349 Majority Road, Orangeburg, SC, will be held 4:30 p.m., Saturday, October 22, 2022, at Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory Chapel, 2868 Columbia Road, Orangeburg, SC. Reverend Ronald Benjamin is officiating.
Carl Anthony Benjamin was born December 15, 1956 to Doris Benjamin and the late Christian Benjamin in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He gained his wings on October 19, 2022.
Carl attended the public schools of Orangeburg and Calhoun counties and graduated from Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School in 1975. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army. After a successful tour of service/duty, he returned to the states and worked for the Savannah River Site. During his time at the Savannah River Site, he obtained a degree from the University of Phoenix in Business Management; it is here that he was able to put his degree into practice. Enjoying the work that he did and finding purpose in it, after 30 years of dedicated service, he decided that it was time: he retired from the Savannah River Site. After retirement, he occupied his free time by cheering on his beloved football team, the Atlanta Falcons, traveling, and engaging in the world of sports — whether it was women’s basketball or golf. He is survived by his only daughter, Robin Anderson (Virginia); his mother, Doris Benjamin (South Carolina); four siblings: Charles (Barbie) Benjamin (Georgia), Ronald Benjamin (Georgia); Denise (Harry) Lewis (South Carolina), and Doris Marie Benjamin (South Carolina); three grandchildren: Jaden Gregory (Virginia), Jordan Gregory (Virginia), and Le’Mietrie Anderson (Virginia) as well as a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, other loving family members, and dear friends.
There will be no public viewing.
Family and friends may visit the residence of his mother, Ms. Doris Benjamin, 349 Majority Road, Orangeburg, SC from 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. daily or call Simmons Funeral Home and Crematory of Orangeburg, SC.
Please adhere to all COVID-19 precautions and masks are required during funeral services.

My deepest condolences to the Benjamin Family. Carl was such a special part of my life and the life of my kids/family. We all met Carl over 30 years ago when my cousin Penny introduced him to us as her supervisor. We instantly adopted him into our family. Our friendship continued to blossom over the years and he was my confidant, mentor (for me and my kids) and my best friend. Over the past few years we talked almost everyday. His passing has truly left a void in my life. Rest on my friend, I will never forget you! Love Felicia and family

When I met Carl in 2019, I was unsure how to take his serious face. It was because he would keep a serious face while telling a joke. It wasn't until he began with that laugh that I knew it was a joke. Carl your encouragement and your presence will be missed. Thank you for encouraging me along the way in my Radcon career. Thank you for giving me recognition of a job well done when you noticed it. As I go back to mockup I will miss joking with you about not hanging myself on a barricade. {Our inside joke}. Take your rest and know that you have left your print on so many. To the family: May God be your strength and comfort in your time of need. May he grant you peace that surpasses all understanding.
