Funeral service will be held 12 noon EST Thursday, October 20, 2022 at Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church, Columbus, GA with Dr. J. H. Flakes, III, pastor, officiating. Burial to follow in Edmonds Cemetery. Visitation is Wednesday, October 19, 2022 from 1-5 p.m. EST.
Mr. Cleophas "Cleo" Lamar Gamble, affectionately known as “Slim”was born March 2, 1964 to Peggy Gamble and the late Timothy Gamble in Columbus, GA. Cleo passed away peacefully on October 5, 2022 at Columbus Hospice, at the age of 58. His loving and caring mother and aunt were by his side.
Cleo accepted Christ at an early age and was a lifelong member of Fourth Street Missionary Baptist Church. His passion was serving on the Ushers Ministry. He matriculated through Muscogee County schools, graduating from Hardaway High School in 1982, where he was an academic scholar and also played football and basketball. He then attended The University of District of Columbia in Washington and Chattahoochee Valley Community College in Phenix City, AL.
Cleo was a likeable and loving person, who never met a stranger. He loved his family and friends and his presence here on earth will be tremendously missed.
Cleo was preceded in death by his father, Timothy Gamble; two brothers, Marcus Gamble and Johann Gamble.
He leaves to cherish his memories his loving mother, Peggy Gamble; two brothers, Michael Gamble and Dion Gamble; devoted aunt, Margie Purry and Tippi Ford; two great aunts, Gladys B. Lyles and Mildred B. Setzer; sister-in-law, Mary B. Gamble; godmother, Marian Ingram; god-aunt, Anita McLendon; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends and cousins who were just like brothers, Timothy Ingram, Kenneth Latimore, Marquis Miles, Derick Wade and Dexter Wade.
