George Ogletree entered this world on February 3, 1946, in Cleveland, Ohio. He cherished his parents, Robert & Ruth Hill, as well as his grandparents, Papa and Grandma Ogletree, all preceding him in death. They provided an amazing foundation for George's life as he approached young adulthood and he would treasure and value that love during their lives and throughout his own.

George joined the US Navy at the tender age of 18 and served 4 years during the height of the Vietnam War. After finishing his Naval tour, in 1974, George signed a contract with the professional NFL team, the Chicago Bears. This was something he was even more proud of than being a Vietnam Vet. But unfortunately, or some may say, thankfully, an injury ended that career.

This injury put him on a different path where he moved to Michigan for a change of pace, and this is where life truly began. George found a career with General Motors and became the Head of Security for the next 30 + years. He also met Cynthia Williams Jackson and her two small children. He took on this young ready-made family and soon made it complete with the addition of another little one, they named Steven. This led to a marriage 5 days shy of 43 years. During this period of his life, he enjoyed many pastimes: fishing, hunting and even CB radios. He went on "CB Breaks'' all over the country with his wife. Those were the good ole days!

George also became a deacon for Rock of Ages church in Detroit, Michigan under the leadership of Pastor Jerome McAfee. This was an honor he revered to the very end. He was also at times lead baritone in the church choir.

He then moved his family to Walnut Grove, Mississippi to enjoy the many fruits of his labor while being surrounded by the most important people that he loved. In early 2021 George combated prostate cancer and WON! What a warrior! On October 1, 2022, George exited this existence by holding on to his son, Stevie's hand (who preceded him in death and welcomed him into Heaven. George then took his place at the right side of his Heavenly Father. George leaves behind a legacy of love that he himself probably didn't fully appreciate.

George will forever be cherished by his loving wife of 43 years, Cynthia Ogletree of Walnut Grove, MS; his daughter Carolyn Jackson of Detroit, MI; his son Arthur Jackson (Nakia Spates) of Walnut Grove, MS; his favorite sister & brother-in-law Dorothea and LaRue Roney of Walnut Grove, MS; his sisters-in-law, Sandra (Carl) Mitchell of Warren, MI; Cheryl Williams (Tonya Gibson) of TX; Tonya and family members. Gregory (Lee Woodall) of Detroit, MI; his brother-in-law, Russell Williams and a host of other friends and family members.
