Obituary For Mrs. Bertha Clark

Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha H. Clark, 95, of 3514 Sidney Road, Columbia, formerly of Orangeburg, will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 16, 2022, at St. Paul Baptist Church, 2259 Rowesville Road, Orangeburg, with interment to follow in Belleville Memorial Gardens. Rev. Dr. Charcey C. Priester is officiating.

Bertha Glover Houser Clark begin her earthly life on December 5, 1926 in Orangeburg, SC. She entered eternal rest on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. She was the daughter of Mr. James and Viola Glover of Orangeburg, SC.

She was employed at the Orangeburg Pecan Company, US Plywood and Orangeburg School District Five for over twenty-five years.

She joined the St. Paul Baptist Church as a teenager. She accepted Christ as her Savior after coming into the knowledge of Him. She was a member of the Senior Usher Board and served as the President for several years. She was also a member of the Inspirational Choir until her health failed. She was married to David Houser Sr. After his demise in 1978, she married Willie Clark in 1998. He preceded her in death in 2007.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, David Houser Jr., two sisters Mae Washington and Rosa Lee Bradley and a brother, James Glover Jr., her grandsons Warren B. Davis and David Houser III and her late husbands David F. Houser Sr. and Willie Clark.

She is leaving behind her loving daughter Georgia (Glen) Davis of Orangeburg, SC. Her grandchildren Deidre Gaffney of Orangeburg, SC, Rodney Davis of Orangeburg, SC, Christopher (Demetria) Davis of Fayetteville, NC, Nakeesha (Heanon) Tate of Dade City, FL, Kimberly (Frederick) Connor of Dade City, FL, James (Tomecka) Davis of Los Angeles, CA, Angela (Jamar) Sanders of Dade City, FL, Shamekia (Mann) Beam of Charlotte, NC, Bryon Houser of Summerville, SC, Terrance Houser of Jacksonville, FL and Yolonda Sherry (Tony) Houser-Reece of San Antonio, TX. Two Great Grandchildren that were raised in the home, Darius Davis and Davonia Malinder of Orangeburg, SC. Twenty-eight Great Grandchildren and Nine Great Great Grandchildren. One sister Mattie Tyler of Orangeburg, SC. Two brothers Johnell Glover of Orangeburg, SC and Freddie Glover of Washington, DC. Three nieces that stayed in the home Angela Ladson of Columbia, SC, Margaret Hall of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Judy Summers of Stamford, Connecticut. Godchildren Ruth Huggins, Paul Simmons, Henry and Angelia Fersner all of Orangeburg, SC. Her nurses Samantha and Monica of Columbia, SC.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 15, 2022, from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
