Nellie Johnson

Nellie Louise Swann Johnson was born in Gaston County, North Carolina on February 16, 1947, to the late Willie B. Swann and Beulah Hardin Swann. She transitioned from her earthly home on Wednesday; September 7, 2022, at Atrium Health University Hospital, Charlotte, North Carolina.

Nellie attended Highland Junior and High School. She graduated from Livingstone College with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. She worked over ten years at Bell South and Duke Energy, nine years at Livingstone College and 4 years at WSSU. Nellie enjoyed over thirty years of baking and decorating cakes. She loved singing and cooking for family gatherings. Cub Scout leader and Tupperware sales to name a few of the many things she made time to do. Above all else, Nellie loved the Lord with all of her Heart and did as much as she could in servitude. She was the secretary at Boyd Friendship Baptist Church, Lake Wylie, SC and was licensed in ministry in 1986 under the leadership of Rev. James W. Burris. She was assistant minister to the late Rev. Samuel Thompson at New Beginnings Baptist Church York, SC, associate Pastor at Petra House and ordained Elder at God’s Tabernacle for Believers. Nellie was the former First Lady of Hall's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church, Salisbury, NC. From Sunday school teacher, ladies fellowship, kitchen committee, the WE care Ministry and Spiritual Mother of many who loved her, Nellie lived her life in honor, service, and reverence to God!! Nellie loved everyone and forgave all.

Nellie Louise Swann was preceded in death by her father, Willie B. Swann, mother, Beulah Hardin Swann, sisters, Willie Faye & Doris Swann Anderson; her son, George Arthur Partlow, daughter, Monica Danean Partlow.

Nellie is survived by her sisters, Sheila Swann, Barbara Tucker, and Michelle Swann; her son, Jonathan Partlow Sr. (Tanya) and daughter, Rhonda Nadine Partlow; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She leaves her memories to cherish and her prayer of faith that we all will continue to run our race and finish the course set before us.

A viewing of the body only will be Saturday; September 17, 2022 at the funeral home from 1 until 4.
