In honor of R/MSgt Warren Tyus who served our country admirably through his servant leadership and patriotism in the USAF. As a result of his service our families met in Warner Robbins, GA where my Poppa, R/MSgt Lorenzo Garrett served as well. I was in kindergarten so through the decades our families have remained friends for some 57 years with both my parents having passed respe tfully, poppa 24 years ago and Momma Clara 30 years ago. Together - we shared many family affairs, events, celebrations, assignments, travel, laughter, loss, and love through it all. Poppa and Mr. Tyus were like brothers and Ms. Marilyn n Momma Clara like sisters and all the children were like cousins - a kinship joined with military blood. Remembering Tyus, as they affectionately called him - Oh his joy for life, laughter, happiness, faimly, children, grandchildren, Jesus, church, service n country, lifetime friendships, community, salesmanship, compassion, jokes, and love are his legacy. He lived life boldly with quick wit, confidence, admiration and commitment. He was a hard worker, he played hard, enjoyed living, was tenacious, intelligent, believed in customer service and always wore a smile. Oh the memories around the breakfast and dinner tables - mostly golden but naturally, life had moments of the counsel, dissertations, trial and jury, come to Jesus moments, music, board games, victories, triumphs, and praise. He loved and he danced - living life loudly through each season of his journey. Bless him. The other day, Tyus was ushered into heaven gates wearing his new wings. May we have joy in our hearts for we know he suffers no more for he has touched the hem of Gods Magnificent Garment. I know Poppa met him with a cheshire' grin - Tyus boldly grinning back. You know they took a walk after he completed business with The Master (of course), and went to sit all day for hours - sitting on the bank of Jordan fishing the tales and sharing the tea of life - reminiscing and having a grand ole time. Rest Pop Tyus and give my Poppa and Momma enormous heavenly hugs n kisses from us down here on earth. May Gods Embrace Comfort Ms. Marilyn, children, and family. Miss him but let go for he is not gone but just away awaiting a reunion. Godspeed... Much heartfelt love is extended to each of you. We love you. Gods Peace be with you. Blessings, Patty Jaye Garrett, Wendell, Anastasia Patterson of Sumter, SC
