OBITUARY: MADISON OATIS

Mr. Madison Oatis, 73, died Thursday September 1, 2022 at St. Dominic Hospital, Jackson, MS. Services for Mr. Oatis were held Friday September 9, 2022 at St. Paul M. B. Church, Silver Creek, MS, with Pastor Michael Evan officiating. Interment was at the Pearl River Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, with Laird Mortuary in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Oatis was the son of the late Samuel Oatis and Marry Magee Oatis. Mr. Oatis was preceded in death by siblings Johnny C. (Erma) Oatis of Silver Creek, S. T. Oatis of Prentiss, Mary Ella Oatis (John) of Gulfport, Martha Louise of Prentiss, and Patricia Oatis of Prentiss.

Mr. Oatis’ survivors include his loving and devoted wife of 53 years Mattie J. (Longino) Oatis Silver Creek; six children Steven (Angela) Barnes of Silver Creek, Daniel (Patricia) Oatis of Prentiss, Chadwick Oatis of Silver Creek, Kelvin (Amanda) Oatis of Hazelhurst, Jacqueline of Silver Creek, and Nanette Sibley of New Hebron; siblings, Jerome (Etta) Oatis of Monticello, Moses of Monticello, Helen (Doug) Walker of Prentiss, Diane Oatis Prentiss, and Betty Ruth (Doug) White of Gulfport; eighteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren; a niece and nephew that he raised with his grandchildren, and a host for other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Madison Oatis will be on Friday September 9, 2022 beginning at 1pm. Services will be held at St. Paul M. B. Church in Silver Creek, MS, interment will be at Pearl River Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Monticello, MS.

Visitation services for Mr. Madison Oatis will be on Thursday September 8, 2022, from 1-7pm at Laird Mortuary Chapel. There will be an additional viewing on Friday September 9, 2022 from 12pm-noon until 1pm at St. Paul M. B. Church.
