Words fail me. I offer sincere condolences to the entire family. Mt. Ephraim, the Fifth District, GMBC, Inc, and NBCUSA, Inc. have lost a shining light. Marilyn's servant heart compelled her to do whatever was needed from the most menial job to stellar leadership. She epitomized the fruit of the spirit, the same whenever and wherever you met her. I will miss her joy, her infectious laugh—just her.

Marilyn was my lifelong friend, my classmate and a person who was always willing to give and share whatever she had. We spent many weekends with her and her family when our children were younger and took trips together. She was always the same, with a loving, kind and generous spirit. I was saddened to hear of her passing but I say to James, Laura, JT and the rest of the family...God never makes a mistake and He will give you the strength to go on. I pray that God's grace and mercy be with you always. God is still in control. Marilyn did what God ordained for her to do and she lived a full life. Minnie Bartley, Green Pond SC

I am still in a state of disbelief. Mr. Mitchell, Laura and TJ, I met Marilyn on a return trip from Los Angeles with the Mass Choir in the early 2000's. I sat was in the window seat on the row with her and Mr.Mitchell. She studied for a Business class the entire flight back to Atlanta. I mentioned that my daughter was in college taking the same course. She gave some inspiring and encouraging words for me to pass along to her. As a member of the Super Seniors I have been on the receiving side of lots of love, care and weekly text messages from her as she informed us on how to care for ourselves during each season, the pandemic as well as when and where to pickup free food if needed. I will miss her and will always have memories of her in my heart. Condolences to you!

Marilyn my sister and friend. We have done so many things together over the past 35 years, from girl scouts, youth ministry and now the Women's Auxiliary. I will miss you my dear friend. I didn't know that when we talked last week that would be the last time we talked here on earth, but God needed you more in His heavenly convention. You were so concerned about Pastor White and his health and how you were praying for his healing, not thinking one time about yourself, because that's the kind of person you were. Our team won't be the same in the Women's Auxiliary. To the family, Marilyn was such a sweet sister to me during my times of bereavement, so I offer to you the same thing she told me on several occasions, "you have my sympathy and if you need anything, just call". Sister Marilyn Mitchell was indeed a sweet spirit with an angelic smile that lit her surroundings. I met and worked with her for many years in the NBCUSA, Inc. Ushers and Nurses' Auxiliary. Sister, what a race you ran, always working out your soul salvation through love, kindness, and service. I enjoyed working with you; and, the wonderful fellowship. I pray that our God who is able will continue to keep and comfort your family to include Georgia and South Carolina families. You will be missed.

To my supportive, loving, fellow South Carolinian. Thank you so much for embracing me when I moved to Atlanta. Thank you for introducing me to the Mount Ephraim Baptist Church. Thank you for being a Great co-worker and even Greater Friend. Thank you for walking the walk of a True Christian through your many actions. Thank you for being there for me when I lost my mom and sister. Thank you for being there for me when work life got hard and sometimes unbearable. I am so devastated that you are no longer here. You are a bright light that will never be dimmed or extinguished. It will continue to shine brightly through your family. I know God is pleased with the work that you have done. Now take your rest my beloved friend. I will miss you. Love Always, Selma Robinson

Condolences to James, Laura, JT and family. I first met and befriended Marilyn in 1988 when I moved to Atlanta and started working at Ft.McPherson. Being new to Atlanta, I didn't know a soul but Marilyn made me feel right at home. She showed me the ropes on the job, invited me to her church, and our little kids became playmates. I thought of her my big sister because she unselfishly took the time to make sure that I was okay and that I had everything that I needed. She always showed compassion and generosity to me and others. That's the Christian-hearted person that she was and that's what I will always remember about her. Later, God blessed our paths to cross again where we became co-workers again at CDC and where she later retired. Marilyn will always hold a place in my heart. She will be truly missed. RIH, Marilyn! Praying for her family's comfort and strength during this time. Friend and Former Co-Worker, Coretta Jones
