Guest Book

Gale understood justice and helped her students to value it through deeply significant plays like "I Never Saw Another Butterfly;" she took them to worlds outside of South Georgia through music, drama and theatre competitions around the state; and she challenged them to heights beyond their imaginations. From Valdosta to New York City, to Kansas and California, to Florida and back to Valdosta, she gathered wisdom and experiences that benefitted all of us as she completed her journey in a full circle back to Valdosta.

The world has lost a star and I don't mean just a glorious actress. Gale was a Divine Star for so many young people who would have been lost without her guidance and support. She spent her life helping kids make their dreams come true. What a role model she was for us all! Debbie Lucero

Bill you must know that Gale is always going to live in our memories as the funny, vivacious, generous, loving soul who gave so much to others and to our community. I will never forget the MASH performance she organized at Christ the King, all the Theatre Guild characters, the many, many political events on the Courthouse lawn, all our Plotting Revolution sessions at your home, the hilarious self-deprecating silly Facebook posts and her tremendous love for you and all her friends and family. I am so very, very sad. I loved her dearly and will miss her forever. Bill, I hope you take comfort in the words and remembrances from all of us whose lives she blessed in her unique way. We love you, Rob, Leigh, and Kathryn

She was amazing. Her energy and creativity were electrifying. Her Daddy Bill opened their hearts and homes to us. I had the best memories in the LHS Theater and memories that still radiate in my heart now. God bless her, her family, and all the hearts she touched throughout her lifetime!

Mrs. Eger was such a jewel! She (and daddy Bill) loved all us kids through the years- through those often difficult and tumultuous high school days. She was always full of wisdom and laughter and always up for a good time. Never accused of being boring that's for sure. You will be missed sweet lady. ~BeckyBlack

Words can't express my utter devastation at the loss of my sweet friend, Gale. She and I have been friends since 1963 when we were in the Valdosta State Theater Department together. From then on we were there for each other through many trials and tribulations. I cannot tell you how much I will miss her. How I'd love to answer the phone again and hear "Hey, Babe!" one more time. Proverbs 17:17 "A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for a time of adversity."

- na

Bill, Don and I are certainly sad to hear of your loss. She certainly blessed many people with her talents!

Dear Cousin Gale, I'm beyond words. This loss is just devastating. You've always been a true role model for me. The way you love, the way you laugh, the way you lived your life. You taught me as a young child the importance of accepting others for who they were in their heart and soul and not for the color of their skin or physical attributes. When Tony was a POW you taught me the importance of social justice in a democracy and how it doesn't come without a fight. You taught me that no matter how bad things get, we must take a minute to be silly and appreciate what we do have. I will always be grateful to you cuz, the impressions you left on me are immeasurable. Now take your final bow and exit stage right, you've given all of us one hell of a performance! ❤️

I just cannot imagine a world without your warm light. A true blessing to anyone privileged enough to cross your path. I'll never forget that bold, red hair and fiery personality. And your laugh! Oh what a dynamite smile. That bedazzled, red bull horn. And Margic Mackers live in my home still today. Thank you for your light, your love and for all you've taught us. Rest now in your rightful place among the stars. I miss you already.
