Rev. Dr. LK Allen, 81, of Columbus, GA passed Tuesday, August 2, 2022 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. EST Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at Holsey Monumental C.M.E Church, Columbus, GA with Elder Curtis West, officiating and Bishop Thomas L. Brown, eulogist. Interment will be in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell, AL. Visitation is Monday, August 8, 2022 from 1-5 p.m. EST

Reverend Dr. LK Allen was born October 16, 1941 in Union Springs, Alabama to the late Robert Lee Allen, Sr. and Mary Blackmon Allen.

Reverend Dr. LK Allen received his formal education from the public school system in Bullock County, Alabama. He attended Jordan Vocational High School, where he received his high school diploma. He later served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged, in 1961, for his dedicated service for his country.

Reverend Dr. LK Allen received an Associates of Arts Degree from Chattahoochee Valley State College, May 27, 1977, Phenix City, Alabama, his Bachelors of Science Degree from Troy State University, Troy, Alabama. He went on to further his academics at the Interdenominational Theological Center of Phillips School of Theology, Atlanta, Georgia, where he received his Masters of Divinity, May 7, 1994, he matriculated and received his Doctorate of Divinity Degree from the Christian Bible College and Seminary, Rocky Mount, North Carolina, July 14, 2009.

Reverend Dr. LK Allen accepted Christ into his life at an early age and joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Union Springs, AL. He later joined Carter Monumental CME Church, Columbus, GA under Rev. E.L. Chester in 1976. As a young man, he accepted his calling to preach. He was ordained and received his licensed to preach July 19, 1970 under Elder J.M. McMath.

Bishop Joseph C. Coles, Jr. appointed him as a Presiding Elder in 1993. He served eleven years as a Presiding Elder on the North Columbus LaGrange District of the West Georgia Region Annual Conference under Retired Bishop Othal H. Lakey, Presiding Prelate of the Six Episcopal District. He was the pastor at Williams/Evans Chapel C.M.E, Buena Vista, GA, New Salem/Benevolent C.M.E, Cuthbert, GA, St. Paul C.M.E, Shiloh, GA, Saint James CME, LaGrange, GA and Carter Monumental C.M.E Church where he retired in 2018. He faithfully served in the ministry for 52 years.

He received numerous awards and was recognized for his love, leadership and dedicated service as a Presiding Elder of the North LaGrange District, West Region Annual Conference, after serving for 11 years in 1999. Also, among his many accolades he served faithfully on the West Georgia Region Annual Conference Joint Board, he was an instructor of the ITC Extension Course at Holsey Chapel C.M.E Church, Columbus, Georgia; Rev. Dr. Allen became a Chaplain with St. Francis Hospital, January 7, 2011, receiving CPE through the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education, Inc. Levels I and II. He was awarded a certificate for his dedicated service for the family and children of the ESP Head Start Program; he served as a substitute teacher for the Muscogee County School District for 24 years. After 24 years, his final assignment was at Gentian Elementary School, Columbus, Georgia for the 2021-2022 school year.

Reverend Dr. LK Allen will be greatly missed by his family, friends, and those who knew and loved him.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 59 years Ola Phillips Allen, daughters, Shenita Thomas, Atlanta, GA, Sharolyn Johnson, Columbus, GA, Sarita (Curtis) Johnson, Lato, AL and Sonya (Robert) Key, Columbus, GA; two siblings Robert Allen, Jr. and Cora Mae Watt both of Columbus, GA; loving in-laws, Evangelist Faye (Thurmond) Ford, James (Annie) Phillips both of Phenix, City, AL; Doris Walker, Lois (Isaac) Holmes, Christine Jackson and Larry (Susie) Phillips all of Columbus, GA; a host of grand and great grandchildren, and many relatives, friends and loved ones.
