Sidney Nelson Tripp, Jr. was born March 23, 1956, to the late Sidney "Bill Jack" and Vera R. Tripp at Fort McPherson. He spent his childhood in Chicago, Illinois and moved back to Greensboro in 1973 with his siblings; Betty Jo, Emma Jean, Markham, Diane, and Vera. He was predeceased by his parents and his baby sister Vera Tripp Parks.
In 1986, Sidney joined the Apostolic Faith Church of the Lord Jesus and was baptized. He was ordained a Deacon and an Elder by Bishop Frank Lawrence, Sr. He served as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sunday School Superintendent and a Teacher. In 2000, his wife, Evangelist Lillie R. Tripp was installed as the Senior Pastor of Apostolic Faith Kingdom Life Fellowship Ministries. Elder Tripp worked with her in the ministry. He continued to serve as an Elder. He worked with the men ministry and the AFC food pantry wherein he distributed food every second Sunday in Greensboro, GA to those in need in the Canaan Community until his health failed.
In 1975, he graduated from Greene County High School. He was a standout athlete. He played baseball, basketball, and football. He attended Durham College in Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina. He received a Scholarship to play baseball and basketball while attending there. He attended that American Theological Seminary and obtained a Bachelor of Theology Degree.
On December 4, 1976, Sidney married the love of his life, Lillie Reid Tripp on December 4, 1976. Their union was blessed with three children: Montilia Maurice Tripp, Monica Tripp, and Sidney Nelson Tripp, III. They were partners in two.
Determined to prosper and succeed, Sidney started working in the local industries until he became the Greene County Recreation Director. Sidney built a recreation program that gained notoriety around Georgia. He introduced Greene County children to football pads, and this developed the children into the caliber of athletes that eventually brought home a Greene County High School State Championship. In 2002, Sidney became the Recreation Director for Hancock County. His passion and love for the children, changed the trajectory of the life of many young boys and girls. He encouraged them to participate in football and they won the football Superbowl in Morgan County. This championship inspired them to play football in middle and high school. Many of these young men attended college and played football. He always bragged about that Superbowl win. Sidney also became a skilled carpenter as an apprentice under the guidance of Bishop Johnny Lewis, Jr. It was this skill that provided him with the confidence to buy and flip homes. He began to renovate rental homes which eventually became personal care homes. Sidney used his business skills and started Lake Oconee Assisted Living homes in 1995. He built a total of 8 homes and a family corporation that has provided care to many disabled and elderly residents for the past 30 years.
Sidney's pursuit of happiness would be filled with blessings along the way. His memories will be cherished by his wife, Pastor Lillie Reid Tripp, his children; Kenneth Demond Tripp, Greensboro, GA, Montilia (Benitra) Tripp, Monica Tripp, Covington, GA, Sidney Nelson Tripp, III., Lithonia, GA. and Megan Lumpkin, Greensboro, GA; sisters, Betty (James) Griggs, Emma (Alvin) Peek, and Diane Tripp Wright of Greensboro, GA; a brother, Markham (Denise) Tripp of Dacula, GA; eight grandchildren: I'moni DYonne Mapp, Nidajzha Tennyson, Jordin Tripp, Zhaden Tripp, Robert Mack, Sanaa Nicole Tripp, Mason Sidney Tripp, Zayvin Sidney Tripp and Logan Tripp; a mother-in-law, Liller V. Uncle, my last memory of you will be forever be in my heart. You, my mom, and Auntie Emma were laughing and joking as usual. You always loved to laugh. Uncle you are truly going to be missed. You have been the patriach of our family for a very long time but you have shown what it is to be a great son, brother, husband, uncle, father, grandfather, and cousin to many. You have really shown your love to a lot of people but especially to kids in Canaan. You showed them there is another world out there. I remember when you ran the recreation department and had so many activities. Uncle I will always remember all the great things you did to help others but what I remember most about you is teaching us "NOT TO FEAR NOTHING". Rest on Uncle! WE LOVE YOU AND YOU WILL BE TRULY MISSED.

Dad...gone but never forgotten!!! As your 2nd oldest child and son, I want to declare, as I've told you many times before, that you were the absolute greatest as a father. I've had a chance to witness success, failure, perseverance, faith, prayer, manifestation, you name it! You were a real life hero! I would always randomly here the stories of things that you have done as a kid, and even more stories as an adult. Having the opportunity to return to your childhood neighborhood in Chicago with you and Unc, only to witness accounts from family that are still there, wowed me. And to think that you made it out of that environment and into the man that you were before you transitioned is astonishing. Even with a difficult upbringing, you managed to grind, plug, work, scrape, and rise from the concrete. You weren't perfect. Never tried to be. However, you always tried to be someone that your family, friends, strangers, and your community could depend on. Someone that your wife and kids could depend on. I really admired the way other people saw and described you to me. Many a time, strangers would stop me and give account to the things that they remembered about you. All good things!!! Most of it aligned with the stories that you would keep Kenny and I up with all night. He might not say it now, but Kenny really thought you were a superhero too. Anyway, you lived a good one pops. You thought me many lessons, none more than the ones that I would lean on you for the past five years. You really got me through some tough times. And not every man can say that they're able to call their dad to get advice. I'm one of the lucky ones!!! Rest up Big Tripp!!! Your Legacy will definitely live on!!!
