Sunrise. . . Debra (Deb) Watkins Jones was born December 23, 1954, in Forest City, North Carolina to the late R. B. Watkins and Dorothy Simmons Watkins. She grew up in a loving home with seven brothers and sisters and lived in a community with a host of extended family and friends. A Life Well Spent. . . After graduating from East Rutherford High School in 1973, she attended North Carolina Central University and was awarded the Bachelor of Commerce degree in 1977. Debra had quite an accomplished list of positions and achievements in her professional career including and most notably as Program Manager at Bank of America, Consultant at Compu-Ware, and Program Analyst at Central Piedmont Community College. From the union of her marriage to her former spouse, Johnnie Jones Jr., three adored children were born Johnnie (Trey), Amanda, and Jarrad. Debra’s life was always focused on her family and helping others. She had a very quiet spirit and never wanted recognition for her gifts of love. She attended Friendship Missionary Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC but always expressed a desire to return home (Forest City, NC) for her final resting place. Even so, her greatest efforts were focused on preparation for her eternal home with the Lord. Sunset . . . After living a beautiful, productive life, Debra entered her eternal rest on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Angelecia Gay, and her brothers—R. B. Watkins Jr. and Rev. John R. Watkins. Those Who Remain . . . We had many conversations about family, cooking, vacations and so many things. The thing that also standout to me is the love she had for her family. I so sorry that you lost her so young. My association with working with Debra began a short 3 years ago. It didn't take long to recognize that her work ethic and human kindness were only two of the traits that made Debra such a joy to work with. My sincere condolences to the family. The world has lost an amazing human being but Heaven has gained an Angel who's star shines brightly on those of us left behind. Rosie Propes

My sincere condolences to Debra's family. I worked with Debra at Bank of America for many years. The year before I retired, I had the privilege of working closely with her on a very large difficult project. Debra could always be relied upon to be a brilliant and calming force. Two characteristics that made her the true leader on the team. She always had well thought out answers and advice. She never belittled others but rather shared her wisdom, both technical and spiritual, with all who needed.her. I will always remember Debra as a good friend and co-worker. Beth Roston
