Obituary For Jerry L. "Tim" Welborn

Jerry L. “Tim” Welborn, 85, a resident of T. or C., died at his home on Tuesday, July 5, 2022. He was born on February 14, 1937 in Cimmeron, NM to Charlie and Capitola (Keith) Welborn. Tim and his family moved to T. or C. in 1945 and graduated from Hot Springs High School in 1955. He owned and operated Welborn Sales & Service for 55 years which, for several years, was the Jeep agency. Tim served on the Fiesta Board in the 1970’s, the Sierra County Fair Board, and he was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea. The one thing he was most proud of was serving on the T. or C. Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years. He held all offices and was Fire Chief for several years. He was also a member of the New Mexico State Fireman’s Association earning a lifetime membership certificate. Survivors include his wife, Ann Welborn; son, Ray Welborn; 3/nieces – Lezlie Ziegenfuss (Joe) of Las Cruces, NM, Darlene Gutzwiler (Phil) of Spokane, WA and Linda Ureeland (David) of Portsmouth, VA; 2/nephews – Craig Cole (Suzie) of Lordsburg, NM and Grady Lee Arnold of Phoenix, AZ. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Capitola Welborn; brother, Grady Welborn; and sister, Gladys. No services will be held, Tim’s wish was to be cremated and scattered. Always remember him fondly. For those who wish, donations can be made in memory of Tim to the T. or C. Fire Department, 505 Sims St., T. or C., NM 87901.
