Mrs. Mann was such a sweet and loving teacher. I met her in 7th grade when I showed up to her class as a very shy and scared little girl making a transition thrombosis Catholic School to Public School. She went out of her way to calm my fears and I never forgot it. Whenever I ran into her anytime afterwards she was still that same loving, smiling person. My prayers are with her family for peace. Our most sincere condolences to the entire Mann Family. Mrs. Mann was and has always been my favorite teacher as far back as the Holt's Chapel days. When I visited her last year, we reminisced about the "good ole days" and had a very enjoyable visit. I wish I could have stayed longer, but . . . ! I will miss her dearly. She told me "When the good Lord gets ready for you, you've got to go." We loved her, but the Lord loved her more! Family & Friends, continue to be blessed by the Best; He makes no mistakes! Cousins Sulton Junior and Kennieth, please know it is extremely difficult for me to articulate my emotions at this time. Auntie has always been one of my life-long heartbeats and I will always hold dear her words of wisdom, her Biblical guidance, her gentleness, and our many, many loving conversations. While in my grief, I can "hear" Auntie tell me to pray for strength and to bind Proverbs 3:5-6 to my heart. Rest in Heaven, Auntie 'Thene. Wear your crown as you sing for God and all the Saints! Strut in your long white robe, with your strands of pearls, and with that pink and green emblem embroidery for all of Heaven to admire! Like I do your big sister, my mother, I will love you all the days of my life. Elizabeth Stanley

Sultan / Kenneth and Family - I met Carthenia in the Fall of 1943 when we were both Freshmen at North Carolina Central University. We remained in contact through the years and would see each other occassionally especially when your parents would come to visit your Aunt in Wilmington NC where I live. Carthenia was always so kind, thoughtful, and helpful. She called me a few days ago around the time of my 96th birthday - June 25th. A beautiful person she was. I am certainly going to miss her. Her soror, classmate, and friend, Addie Nixon Dunlap

To my cousins, I offer my condolences at this time of your loss, your mom, a beautiful lady and a beautiful person too. Family so sorry for your loss. I first met Mrs.Mann when my family and I moved across the street from her family in 1960. She was one of the sweetest people I had ever met at the tender age of 6. Our family left Duffyfield in 1998 so I only saw her about town or my daughter who worked at the mall would tell me she said hello. If she saw our face she knew who we were and a conversation was on. When I retired she told me not to stop moving and I've been trying. She has been my inspiration. Sultan and Kenneth your mama was beautiful inside and out I'll never forget her. She always loved talking about you and the grands. A life well lived. Hold tight to the memories. Charlene Washington
