At times like this when the death of a loved one catches us off guard we are faced with so many different emotions, from numbness to overwhelming grief. A flood of memories begin to replay on the movie screens of our minds as we relive those days long since gone. But when the movie stops and the pain of loss gives us a brief respite from its icy grasp, what we are left with is the love. It's the love of friendship, of a life that intersected with yours leaving footprints on your soul and changing you forever. Sonja L. LeDay-Alfred, you were loved! I hope that your soul knows this. Thank you for the memories and for the gift of knowing you. Luv you madly❣️🌹 Anja, Michael, and Keith, you have my DEEPEST sympathy. 💔

I remember when I spent a whole night in the ER with Sonja , which wasn't anything serious, but during that time while waiting I had one on one time with her, which I got to know her better, which meant a lot to me! A lady of beauty and grace. Gone but will not be forgotten! Rest In Peace ☮️ 💞💐lLove your cousin Brenda Autry, Houston, Tx

I always considered Sonja to be the big sister I never had. I admired her for so many reasons! She was beautiful. Her piano playing skills were second to none. She showed me how to apply makeup. That was a talent that would prove to be very useful in the career she chose. She was definitely in the right field. To this day, I remember how well she prepared my Uncle Glenn for his funeral in 2012. During my family trips to Opelousas almost every summer as a child I stayed with Sonja and her family. I had great times with her parents, Michael and Keith. (I remember you too Jo Ann). I remember Sonja liked Wynton Marsalis so much, she named her dog after him. I have fond memories of Sonja coming to visit me in Rochester when I was in college & going to see a concert at the Eastman Theater. Years later she met Charles. I'll treasure the VHS tape she gave me of her beautiful wedding. To Keith, Michael, Charles & Anja my Mom & I will keep you in our prayers. We share your sorrow. Denise Batiste
