Mr. Dennis Alvester Hampton, aka (Al and D1), was born March 7, 1973, in Valdosta, Georgia to the late Dennis Hampton Jr. and Mary Louise Hampton. He was the baby boy to six sisters. Dennis attended Valdosta City Schools where he was a 1972 graduate and Valdosta Wildcat football player. Dennis also attended Valdosta State University and played for the Blazer football team. Dennis joined the House of God Church, Inc., at an early age. He was an active participate in the youth department. As an adult, he re-dedicated his life to Christ and was a firm believer who stood on the promises of God’s word daily. Dennis was self-employed with Hampton Enterprise and owner of Wild One Gear where he designed athletic sportswear. Dennis was active in the communities of Valdosta, Georgia and Orlando, Fla. He volunteered for the Valdosta Boys and Girls club as well as assisted with Valwood Valiant football team and he was an event promoter. Al also enjoyed drawing, painting, designing, fishing, and traveling. He was preceded in death by his Parents: Dennis and Mary Hampton; maternal Grandmother: Alma Simpson Cater; maternal Grandfather: Eugene Harrington; paternal Grandparents: Elder Dennis Hampton Sr and Deaconess Johnnie Mae Hampton; Nephew: Allan Taylor; and Niece: Latoya Hill. Mr. Hampton leaves his cherishing memories to his Daughter: Lovely Legacy Hampton; Siblings: Debra (Eugene) Bell, Brigitte Hampton, Tammy (Joseph) Potter, Glynis Hampton, Alma (Elder Willie) McCoy and Valerie Hampton; Aunts and Uncles: Annie Lois (James) Flucas, Marvin Hampton, Rosetta Hampton Carrington, John (Stephanie) Hampton, Tony Hampton, Woodrow (Alice) Haynes and Doris Daniels; His extended family in Orlando, Florida Gorgeous Coons; a hosts of great aunts and great uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and “The Congregation Brothers”. Special cousins that he considered as brothers Andre Hampton and Durwin Logan.
Dennis, left this life on Friday, May 13, 2022 at the age of 49, leaving behind a loving family and many friends as well as extended family members.
The Hampton Family has set Saturday, May 21, 2022 to celebrate and honor the life of Dennis D1 Hampton at 2:00 PM, from Crossing Jordan Baptist Church - 1401 Cypress Street.
Internment will follow immediately at Riverview Memorial Gardens, 3945 North Valdosta Road.
