Kelvin accepted Christ at an early age, he united with Plantation M.B. Church in Ethel, MS. Kelvin lived his life as a humble, kind, and giving man; to know him was to love him. He was a living example of the scripture Ephesians 4:2 " With all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love." Kelvin fiercely loved his family, friends, and others in general-- unconditionally. If there was a need to be met, or someone he could help, he never hesitated to do so. He was a true example of Christ's love.
Kelvin graduated Ethel High School's Class of 1988; he continued his education at Holmes Jr. College in Goodman, MS. He then transferred to Thee Jackson State University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. Upon graduation, he was employed by the JSU Department of Admissions and soon began to pursue and earn his Master's Degree in education administration. He would eventually transfer to the Department of Undergraduate Recruitment where he truly walked in his calling. Kelvin was in his element as he recruited students to Jackson State University; nothing gave him more pleasure than helping to shape and mold young minds to pursue their educational dreams.
One of the most fulfilling times in Kelvin's life and career was the years he spent serving alongside Linda Rush as advisors to JSU Tiger Pride Connection students. Although Kelvin did not have any biological children, the students became his children. He fussed, he cussed, he protected, but most of all, he loved them the way any good parent would; no, they didn't call him dad, because to them, he was simply (Latti). It was also during this time that Kelvin developed his dapper sense of style, mainly due to the fashion sense of former boss, Larry Belton, and co-worker Steven Smith. He would often say "I don't do it for me, I do it for the people." Kelvin eventually moved on to JSU Online where he served the final years of his career and was set to retire June 1, 2022. Kelvin served 27+ years at his beloved alma mater, Thee I love- Jackson State University.
