Mr. Wilbur Jordan

In the Beginning- A time to be born …Ecclesiastes3:2 Wilbur Joran was born on October 12,1935 to parents of Mamie Jordan and Dud Respress in Roberta, Crawford County, GA. Wilbur received his education in the public schools of Upson County. At an early age he joined the Salem Baptist Church. Here he learned that faith without works is dead, so he picked up his cross and followed Jesus.

The Journey Continues- “A Time to Live, Love and Serve” Wilbur was united in holy matrimony to Emmaline Raines on October 29, 1957. They were united for 56 years until she preceded him in death in the year of 2013. He was a hard worker and a loving family man. To support his family, he was employed by Martha Mills until he retired 2000. He was a great baseball player, and he loved the Atlanta Braves! Wilbur enjoyed singing and that led him to become a member of the Southern Travelers Gospel Singing group. He also served as president of the Gentlemen’s Social Club. He was known to his loved ones as “Big Daddy.” The Journey Ends- “A time to mourn” … Ecclesiastes 3:4 On April 1, 2022, God called Wilbur from labor to reward. His son, Car Jordan; siblings, Emma Hall, Rhoda Miller and Jimmy Jordan preceded him in death. Mr. Wilbur Jordan leaves to cherish his memories a legacy of family and friends which include his children, Berlinda Jordan and Wilma Jordan both of the Salem Community, Brenda Harris (Anthony) of Griffin, GA, Alesia Walker (Paul) of Albany, GA, Rose Traylor and Ricky Dallas both of Thomaston, GA; twelve grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; four siblings, Joe Louis Gibson (Carol) of Yatesville, GA, Linda Wilder (Milton) of the Salem Community. Rosemary Ellison and Terry Howard both of Roberta, GA; two sisters-in-law, Palmer Jordan of Detroit, MI, and Mildred Raines of Macon, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Graveside Services were held Friday, April 8, 2922 1:00 P.M. Salem Baptist Church Cemetery
