Obituary For Mr. Lorenzo Bailey

Mr. Lorenzo Bailey of Houston, Texas, entered into eternal rest on March 22, 2022.

He was born on May 31, 1948, in Eatonton, Georgia, to the late James and Mattie Bailey.

Lorenzo was taught to value education at an early age and is a proud alumnus of Morehouse College. He supported the college through fundraising and mentoring efforts since graduation. Lorenzo also earned an MBA from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He retired from State Farm Insurance after 28 years as an agent and executive following his initial career in computer science. Lorenzo followed Luke 12:48, “…For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required…”, through volunteering with Big Brothers and Big Sisters of America and Cornerstone Family Ministries in Houston, Texas. Lorenzo served as a former Treasurer of the Morehouse Alumni Association, Houston Chapter, former President of the Board of FamilyTime Foundation and former Treasurer of Cornerstone Family Ministries. Lorenzo is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Ruth Bailey, daughters Latonya McClam (Michael) and Tori, grandchildren Jasmine, James and Jackson McClam, brothers Mitchell, Clayborn (Delores), Maurice and Aubrey (Susan), nieces, nephews, and a multitude of cousins, extended family and friends. Lorenzo is preceded in death by his sister, Wyvonia Moss, brothers-in-law, Odis Moss and Johnny Brown, and sisters-in-law, Millie Bailey, Joyce Bailey and Elizabeth Brown. While a loving husband, father, doting grandfather, brother and a Godly servant, Lorenzo was also a loyal friend, colleague and confidant. He enjoyed playing tennis and golf, spending time with family and friends, traveling, volunteering, hiking and reading. Lorenzo will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is playing tennis again, working on his golf game and watching over those he loved.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Houston, TX at a later date.
