Alexander Dockery was born July 5, 1938, in Mt. Gilead, North Carolina. He was the third of eight children born to Vattie Dockery and Etrulia (Black) Dockery.
After leaving Mt. Gilead, Mr. Dockery lived in New York 20 for plus years and then Pennsylvania for 20 plus years, and finally to Monroe, NC for 20 plus years where he lived out the rest of his days. He was a member of Watts Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Indian Trail, NC.
Mr. Dockery’s career as a Master Mechanic for over 40 years was exemplified in every aspect of his life and many friends and family sought after his vast knowledge to repair many items.
Mr. Dockery was preceded in death by wife, Lessie (Pulliam) Dockery, (3) sons, Lee Ed Pemberton., Allen Pulliam and Michael Dockery; (3) brothers, Vattie Dockery Jr., Darius Dockery and John (Dockery) Leak; (3) sisters Lula Mae (Dockery) McCrae, Sarah (Dockery) Smith, and Ann Frank.
Mr. Dockery leaves behind his wife, Geronia Mae (Steele) Dockery, his brother, Charles Dockery, and sister, Betty (Dockery) Hairston; (7) Children: Alexis Dockery, Karl Dockery, Sondra Dockery, Tamisha Davis, Pam Thompson and Steve Thompson; (11) grandchildren: Corey Pemberton, Sharae Dockery, Karl Dockery II, Alisha (Dockery) Myers, Karon Dockery, Joshua Johnson, Chantel Epps, DeCarol Andino, India Johnson, Michigan Andino, and Isaiah Dockery; (7) great grandchildren: Jada Pemberton, Aby Pemberton, London Dockery, Desmond Washington Jr., Brooklyn Pemberton, Grace Ann Myers, and Levi Myers.
The Graveside Services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2022, 3:00pm, St. Stephens AME Zion Church Cemetery, Mount Gilead, North Carolina.
The Dockery Family will greet family and friends 30 minutes prior to the service (2:30-3:00pm) at St. Stephens.
The public viewing will be on Thursday, March 31, 2022 from 3:30-6:00pm at Smith's Funeral Home, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
