Ms. Cynthia Laverne Gordon was born on December 4, 1959 to Laura Kirk Register and to the late Israel “Pick” Matchett in Valdosta, GA. Cynthia graduated from Lowndes High School (1977), Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (‘79), Valdosta State College (‘85), and later received her Master of Arts Degree from Nova Southeastern University in 2005. She retired from Hamilton County School System after 28 years of service. She was a member of New Jerusalem Church. Cynthia loved to read, travel, cook, and spend time with her grandkids. Cynthia L Gordon departed life on March 9, 2022 at South Georgia Medical Center. Cynthia Gordon was preceded in death by her father, Israel Matchett; and sister, Sandra Kirk. She leaves to cherish her memories: her mother Laura K. Register (Jacksonville, FL); one son Dreco Kirk (Valdosta, GA); two daughters, Venesha Gordon (Chesterfield, VA) and Niekisha Walker (Evans, GA); two brothers, Tony Kirk (Houston, TX) and Bernard Dye (Betty) (Valdosta, GA); three sisters, Wanda Register Brown (Richmond, VA), Angela Dubose (Sandy) (Tampa, FL), and Anne Brown (Valdosta, GA); 8 grandchildren, Cayonia Roberts, Kiersten Gordon, Aniston Edwards, Caydan Roberson, Kelseeh Edwards, Cayli Roberson, Aydreigh Gordon, and Jase Walker; soon to be first great granddaughter Drew Daniels; loving nephews and nieces, Demetris Inman, Shameka Register, Taneka Register, Tory Kirk, and Shantia Vaughan; and other loving relatives and friends. Home going service for Ms. Cynthia Gordon will be held on Saturday, March 19, at 11:00 AM at Grace Victory Church, Rev. Robert Daniels is the pastor. Burial will follow in the Pallbearer Cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Friday, March 18 from 12:00 Noon til 7:00 PM.
