Obituary For Sarah Louise Lee

Mrs. Sarah Louise Thomas Lee, 89, of Phenix City, AL passed Thursday, February 24, 2022 in Phenix City, AL.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. EST, Sunday, March 6, 2022 at Greater St. John Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Bryant, Pastor; Rev. Alphonso Thomas, officiating. Interment will be in church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, March 5, 2022 from 12-5 p.m. EST.

Sarah Louise Thomas Lee was born to the late Elbert Hood & Mattie Thomas August 26, 1932, in Russell County, AL. She was the youngest and last of seventeen siblings and attended Will Valley School in Lee County, AL.

Sarah was also preceded in death by sons, Bobby (Reba) Thomas and Johnny Lee.

She leaves to cherish her legacy her loving children, James (Sadie) Thomas, Sr., Jimmy Lee (Joanne) Williams, Sr., Joann (Paris) McCoy, Joseph (Ann) Thomas, Sr. and Jeannette (Moses) Neal; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren many other loving, devoted nieces, nephews, family members and friends.

Special friend, Jackie Washington, devoted roommate, Judy Craig, devoted caregivers of Phenix City Health Care Carrie Johnson and Sarah Dawson.

Sarah accepted Christ at an early age under the late Rev. N. J. Davis at the Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she served faithfully until her health declined. She was a choir, Sunday school, missionary, matron member and head of the kitchen committee. She was also an active member of the Community Social Club. Sarah was employed by the Dudley, Corbett, Brown, and Cross families combined for more than 60 years.

Sarah loved her Crawford community, was known and loved by many. She was truly a well-dressed, strong, generous, and caring woman who loved her family and friends unconditionally. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will tell you that they couldn’t have asked for a better person to have loved and taught them so much in so many ways and has left them with lasting beautiful memories.
