Mabel Wingfield Perry, 94 years young, entered her sunset on Wednesday, February 9, 2022, quietly in her sleep. Mabel was born on October 17, 1927, to Florene and Joe Wingfield in Augusta, GA. After graduating from Paine Institute for high school, she went on to study Education and graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree from Paine College. For 32 years she worked tirelessly as an Educator for the Richmond County Board of Education until her retirement.

In 1953, Mabel met James W. Perry and went on to have two daughters, Waltina Perry-Holston and Wynneen Perry. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

Mabel was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years, James W. Perry affectionately called “Jay”.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories, loving daughters, Waltina Perry-Holston and Wynneen Perry; two grandsons, Darien Holston and Derrell Holston; and a host of other family, friends and caregivers.

Pubic viewing will be held Friday, February 18, 2022, from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the mortuary. Graveside services will be held Saturday, February 19, 2022, at 11:00 AM from Mount Olive Memorial Gardens, 3666 Deans Bridge Road, Hephzibah, GA 30815.
