Ecclesiastes 3 says there is a time for everything, and this was Barbara's time to leave you and go to her heavenly reward with the Lord. She was so full of Spirit and Love! We knew Barbara as a classmate, leader, organizer, champion for education, care giver, and lover of talking and having fun with friends, family, Delta sorors and FAMU Alums. We offer the Forte and Conner family our sincere condolences as you travel this journey of grief. You will have many wonderful memories to reflect on as there will be valley days and mountaintop experiences. Know that God is with you through it all; just pray and keep your faith. God is a great comforter, healer, way maker, provider, and whatever you need. You are not alone! Your friends, Ron and Deboraha Jackson Harris Hoover, AL

Barbara Forte Conners along with Ruby Reese (Chicago), and Dr. Primus-Cotton mentored my youngest daughter Kanela during her nursing education at FAMU. They continued to mentor and encourage her, during her graduate program of studies as well.I am indebted to all, especially, to Barbara for the assistance and encouragement she provided my daughter throughout her nursing education and ensuing nursing career! To God be the Glory! Respectfully and Sisterly, Dr. Sandra Webb-Booker

My sincere condolences to you and the entire family during this time of loss. Barbara and I were good colleagues who shared a love for nursing education and nursing in general. Barbara was always so appreciative of our collegiality. She would often insist on taking me to breakfast when we worked at the University of Chicago. I do not recall ever having said no. Barbara was ALWAYS cheering me on and encouraging me to rise to higher heights. Wishing you peace and comfort now and in the days to come. Sincerely, Dr. Janice Phillips (Chicago)

Dear Conner & Forte' family, I am so sadden by the death of my FAMU School of Nursing (SON) Alumni friend. I met Barbara when the SON spearheaded the resurrection of the SON alumni chapter during the 80th anniversary of the school. Barbara volunteer to become the President and worked diligent with the other e-board members to charter the chapter under the umbrella of the FAMU NAA. She was always a champion for the school. I will miss her dearly. Brenda Bryant Class of 1976, Tallahassee, FL

To the Forte and Conner Family, I sit choked on my tears thinking about a friend I met 31 years ago at City Colleges of Chicago. Barbara lived as if she was writing her Obituary. She put others at the center of her life. She was kind, loved to spread joy, lend a helping hand, listened, smiled, complimented and encouraged. She was like Jesus with her friends- he saw Lazarus friends weeping and he wept. She would do likewise. She shared everything. She fought a good fight, finished the race and kept her faith. I am sitting thinking about my dear friend, teary-eyed but thankful our paths crossed. She was truly my friend. I am honored to have known her. Beverly Anderson

Barbara Ann was a kind hearted person and all ways helping others. Barbara Ann and Virginia Forte' McMullen (my sister) was the best of friends and seem to have the most fun. They went out to many high school events - even dress beautiful for the high school prom. Barbara Ann could bring a smile to any one face. When Barbara Ann spoke everyone listen for she had the voice that command attention and at the same time she made you laugh. Bless The Forte's Family. Connie Forte' Douglas, Marietta, Georgia
