Mr. Wilbur Louis Bell, 63, of Phenix City, AL passed Monday, January 24, 2022 in Opelika, AL.

A private service will be held for Mr. Bell. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 2, 2022 from 2-5 p.m. EST.

Mr. Bell was born to parents James and Mattie Bell, on February 11, 1958, in Ashland, Alabama. Wilbur graduated from Clay County High School and later received a degree in Sports and Recreation from Big Bend Community College. He was a sports official for over 30 years and he also served his country in the US ARMY for more than 10 years, and was honorably discharged from service in He married his wife Nina, the love of his life, in August of 1980, who survives him.

He is preceded in death by his father, James Bell.

Wilbur is also survived by his Mother, Mattie Bell; his daughters, Brittaney Ferrell (Darryl) and Jasmine Leister (Darrin); son, Matthew Bell (Erin); siblings, Mary-Jane Bishop, Sarah Cotton (Robert), James Bell, Jr. (Marilyn), Melody Sawyer (late Thomas), Roger Bell (Carla), Kenny Bell ( Azzie), Robert Bell and Lisa Bell; five grandchildren, Myiannah Ferrell, McKinna Ferrell, Messiah Ferrell, Brinleigh Leister and Bryce Leister.

Wilbur was known for his outgoing personality and his love for sports. He loved football, basketball, and baseball. And during his life he got to see his favorite baseball team of all time, The Atlanta Braves, win the World Series. He was truly a family man, and enjoyed having all of his grandkids together. Wilbur was also a God fearing man and loved the Lord with all his heart. He loved attending church, and speaking of all the good God had done for him and his family. He knew his heart was right with God and reminded his family and friends of that daily. He is in our hearts and we know that we will see him again.
