Obituary For Giovonni Eugene Blakeney

Giovonni Eugene Blakeney June 2, 1982 - January 6, 2022 Charlotte, North Carolina - Giovonni Eugene Blakeney passed away on January 6th at his home in Charlotte after a long illness. Giovonni graduated from Butler High School in 2001 where he played football. Born on June 2, 1982, in Charlotte, Giovonni loved sports, especially basketball and football. He was a fun-loving, deeply caring person, often referred to as a teddy bear. His sweet hugs, strong eyes, and beautiful smile will be missed by many. Giovonni is survived by his mother Vanessa Blakeney and the late Bobby Stitt, sisters Vautaurius McDonald (Eliot), Shakeka Blakeney, Lisa Fields, his brother Darryl McCray, his grandmother Bertha White, all from Charlotte. He also is survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and a close cousin Shalisa Livingston. Giovonni lived with and was a member of his Guardian's family including Jann Kilgo and Rick Kiser, Leslie Kiser (Mike Coffey), and Emily Kiser-Yellick (Jason) until the time of his passing. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Hawthorne Lane United Methodist Church, 501 Hawthorne Lane, Charlotte, NC. Visitation will occur at the church beginning at 1:00 pm with services following at 2:00 p.m. King Funeral Home, (704)394-2722 is serving the family.
