Affectionately known as “Ma Dear”, Myrtis was a beloved Matriarch sharing peace, joy, comfort, care, and humor amongst family and friends. A respected employee at Thermo King and Farmer’s Furniture, Myrtis was cherished for her work ethic, and her beautiful handwriting remains a loving memory. A foundational symbol of “home” for her family, familial community, and friends, Myrtis was loved and adored by many. A favorite scripture of Myrtis’ was St. John 3:16. After the winter comes the spring to show us again that in everything there’s always renewal divinely planned. Just like the seasons come and go, so do our loved ones in a season of death. So let us be content, no matter what the reason for love itself lives on. And so, as our beloved now rests, we will seek comfort in our entrusting them into God’s care eternally, holding their memory forever in our hearts….for love lives on. Preceded in death her parents, Whitney Curtis and Madie Stone Curtis, husband, Willie J. Quarterman Sr., siblings Frank Curtis, Robert Curtis, Roy Curtis, Willie Mauge Curtis, Albert Curtis, A. Elizabeth Curtis Lawrence, Claudia Curtis King, Catherine Curtis Smith, William Curtis, Louise Curtis and, raised as her own, Bernice Q. Ponder and son, Kenneth B. Quarterman. The memories of Myrtis “Mother Dear” will forever live in the heart of her children, her daughters, Varetta Q. Bigham of Augusta GA. and Karen Q. Foley of Louisville GA., and son, Willie J. Quarterman Jr. (Carla) of Augusta GA. ten grandchildren: Chrishon Ponder, Sonji Ponder Lockhart (Morris), Yasika J. Bigham, Shimey J. Bigham, Adia S. Foley, Tranise J. Foley, Tyrone Heggs (Michelle), Kaleb Quarterman (Emily), and Montia Hodges, great-grandchildren (17) nieces, great-great-grand (3) and, a host of nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
