Melvin confessed Christ at an early age and joined Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church.
Melvin attended the public schools of Anson County and was a graduate of Bowman Senior High School Class of 74’. He worked as a professional truck driver for various trucking companies. He enjoyed watching drag racing on TV and going to drag racing events.
Melvin Donnell Lisenby was joined in holy matrimony to Gwendolyn Tillman Lisenby for 38 years. From their union, they were blessed with a daughter, Felicia S. Lisenby.
Melvin was preceded in death by his grandmother, Shirley Wall Dickerson; great grandmother, Shellie P. Wall; and two brothers, James Edward Lisenby Sr. and Reginald Leon Lisenby.
Melvin leaves to cherish his fond memories: his loving wife, Gwendolyn Tillman Lisenby; his mother, Geneva Wall Lisenby of Wadesboro, NC; two daughters, Felicia S. Lisenby and Demetric “Lilah” Hailey; two grandchildren, Katelyn “Katie” McIver and Christopher Henry; four sisters, Wanda K. Lisenby of Milton, Delaware; Brenda Lisenby of Winston Salem, NC, Gwendolyn G. Lisenby and Shirley M. Lisenby both of Wadesboro, NC; seven brothers, Larry G. Lisenby of Winston Salem, NC, Rev. Dr. Roy A. Lisenby and Walter V. “Tag” Lisenby of Wadesboro, NC, Rodney L. Lisenby of Winston Salem, NC, Robert Lisenby Jr. and Pastor Larry “Dwight” Pat Lisenby of Winston Salem, NC and Gary Blakney of Thomasville, NC; four sisters-in-law, Pam Lisenby of St. Charles, Maryland, Annie Hamilton (Clifton), Nellie Ingram and Patricia Tanner (Lorenza) all of Wadesboro, NC; one brother-in-law, Curtis Tillman (Lucille) of Ansonville, NC; two uncles, Merice Ben Wall (Stella) of Ansonville, NC and James A. Wall (Lana) of Oxford, NC; one great aunt, Arline Barringer; one goddaughter, Bernia Jaecksch-Ford; his extended family, The Rorie’s, who grew up as siblings and a host of niecesMR. MELVIN DONNELL LISENBY, age 65 peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
The Homegoing Services will be on Wednesday, January 5, 2022, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be in the family plot of the West Deep Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Wadesboro, North Carolina.
