Thurman Alonza Pinnix was the second son and the fourth of four children born to the late Roger William Pinnix and Venis Ballard Pinnix. Thurman was a gentle giant, calm, easy going, affectionate, uncomplicated, loved by all, but was not to be underestimated.
At an early age Thurman accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, united with the family at First Baptist Church and was baptized. After graduation from T. Wingate Andrews High School in 1979, Thurman attended DeVry Institute-Atlanta, GA, where he studied Electronics. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving as a Nuclear Ordinance Technician with top secret security clearance.
After returning home from service Thurman joined Guy Turner Rigging and Moving Engineers. During his 27-year career he served in many areas before being promoted to the position of Project Manager. This position often tasked him with some of the company’s most difficult assignments using his skill in many disciplines.
As an innovator Thurman was led to satisfy his desire to explore, invent, develop, and design. He acquired and used his skill in Electronics, Sound/lightning, and music production, (mastering multiple musical instruments during his lifetime). He was a self-taught Master Chef known for many culinary innovations having catered many events and functions throughout the triad area.
Thurman was founder and owner of Innovative Concepts and Arms, LLC a company that evolved from his Sound and Lighting Company that he operated for over 25 years. He also was the proud owner and operator of TAPP (Thurman A Pinnix Photography) a talent he was very passionate about. He loved to capture great moments in the lives of people with a unique and special clarity. Thurman was an avid Harley Davidson Rider and a member of several clubs.
Thurman was called to be with the Lord on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, at his residence and was preceded in death by his parents, Roger W. and Venis Ballard Pinnix.

A Poem to My Bonus Dad A light went out on Earth for you The shocking day we said goodbye And on that day a star was born, The brightest in the sky Reaching through the darkness With its rays of purest white Lighting up the Heavens As it once lit in your life With beams of love to heal The broken hearts you left behind You are always apart of our memory Your lovely star will shine Love you always Jamie B.
