Obituary For Nancy J. Eccles Hairston

Nancy J. Eccles Hairston, 81, of Winston- Salem, NC passed December 19, 2021. A public viewing will be held Wednesday, December 22,2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Perry- Spencer Funeral Home, Madison, NC. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 23,2021 at Rising Star Baptist Church, Walnut Cove, NC with burial following at Pine Hall Baptist Church Cemetery, Pine Hall, NC.

Nancy Eccles Hairston was the only child born to Rev. Robert W and Alma Hope Eccles. As a teenager her mother taught her to play the piano by ear where she would begin singing as well.

Nancy was educated at London High School. Following graduation, she migrated to New Jersey where she lived with her beloved Aunt Minnie Manning and worked at the local hospital serving as a candy striper. Nancy eventually returned back to Stokes County where she married the love of her life Orie Hairston and was blessed with four children. Nancy joined Rising Star Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dwight Hash Sr. On Saturday (12-18-21), God’s Angel transported her spirit to her heavenly home. Nancy was preceded in death by her husband Orie Hairston, her parents Rev Robert W Eccles and Alma H Eccles, her Mother-in law and Father-in-law Ms. Julia Hairston Bailey and Benjamin Bailey Sr., Bother-in-Law Benjamin Bailey and her daughter Andra H Dalton.

She is survived by her daughter; Machell E Martin (Michael) of Belews Creek NC, Orie Hairston (Wanda) of Walnut Cove and Maurice Hairston (Tammy) Ellisboro NC, including (7) grandchildren Ryan Martin, Orie Hairston Jr. Casey Hairston, Jessica Smith, Savannah Dalton, Sheyanne Dalton, Dekota Moore and (4) great-grandchildren, a Brother-in-law Gary Bailey of Philadelphia Penn host of cousins and friends.
