Obituary For James Lyles, Jr.

Mr. James Lyles, Jr., 82, of Phenix City, AL passed Friday, October 1, 2021 in Columbus, GA.

Graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 8, 2021 at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell AL. Visitation is Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 2-5 p.m. EST.

Mr. Lyles was born July 9, 1939 in Brickyard, AL to the late James Lyles, Sr. and the late Louise Chambers Lyles. At the age of 17, "Junior Boy" enlisted in the United States Army. He served honorably 25 years and attained the rank of Sergeant First Class. As part of his service, James completed three separate yearlong combat tours to the Republic of Vietnam with the 1st Signal Brigade and 1st Calvary Division; conducted multiple overseas military tours and qualified as an expert, M16 Rifle and Sharpshooter, M14 Rifle.

The strong and silent type, James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He was an avid fisherman, recreational shooter, Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers fan and connoisseur of western movies.

His survivors include his loving and dedicated wife of 52 years, Chong Cha Lyles of Phenix City, AL; three sons, Yong Lyles of Smiths, AL, Martin (ShaRhonda) Lyles of Fortson, GA and John (Nichole) Lyles of Fredericksburg, VA; seven grandchildren, Themi, Young, Hunter, Collin, Nicholas, Fisher and Abigail Lyles; sister, Dorothy (Willard) White of Dallas, TX; a dedicated nephew, Herman Hunter of Nashville, TN and a host of other relatives and friends.
