Obituary For Jimmy Dale Gholar

Deacon Jimmy Dale Gholar, 66, died Wednesday September 29, 2021 at Asbury Hospice in Hattiesburg, MS. Services for Deacon Gholar were held Thursday October 7, 2021 at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Silver Creek, with Pastor Michael Smith officiating. Interment was in the Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with Laird Mortuary in charge of all arrangements.

Deacon Gholar was the sixth child born to the late Deacon Alcee and Sister Edna Ree Gholar in Silver Creek. Deacon Gholar was baptized at Shady Grove M. B. Church at an early age and remained a faithful member until his health prevented him from participating as usual. Deacon Gholar served his God and church as Chairman of the Deacon Board, Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher, Chief Usher, Choir Adviser, Mission Adviser, Praise Team Adviser, Chairman of the Trustee Board and a member of the Brotherhood.

Deacon Gholar graduated from Prentiss High in 1973, and began his work career at Kopper’s Inc, with various occupations that included sawmill worker, Allen King Construction Company, Georgia Pacific Paper Mill, and Gholar Construction Company, which he was most proud of.

Deacon Gholar always maintained a positive attitude and kept a smile on his face. Deacon Gholar was a hard worker that loved his family and church. Deacon Gholar was preceded in death by his parents, Deacon Alcee and Sister Edna Ree Gholar, brothers Alcee Gholar Jr., Larry Gholar and Thomas Barnes.

Deacon Gholar’s survivors include his loving wife of 46 years, Sarah Gholar, sons; Broderick (La’Wanda) Gholar, Jimmy L. (ReKesha) Gholar, both of Jackson, daughters: Erica Gholar of Richland, and Whitney Yarbourgh of Tylertown, six (6) grandchildren, two (2) great grandchildren, six (6) brothers and two (2) sisters, and host of other relatives.

Funeral services for Mr. Jimmy Dale Gholar will be Thursday, October 7, 2021 at Shady Grove M. B. Church, Sliver Creek, beginning at 1pm. Mask are required and temperatures will be taken.

Visitation services for Mr. Jimmy Dale Gholar will be Wednesday October 6, 2021 at Laird Mortuary Chapel, from 1pm-6pm with the Family Hour from7pm-8pm.
