Vanessa graduated from Gadsden High School in 1985. She graduated from Jacksonville State University where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Social Work and later retained a Master's degree in Social Work from Jacksonville State University. She had a heart of gold and her passion was helping people whenever she could. Vanessa dedicated her life to advocating for victims of Domestic Violence and ending the stigma surrounded by Mental Health.
Vanessa served the Gadsden area working at Rose Haven domestic violence women and children shelter. Vanessa furthered education and served her community by becoming a proud owner of Nancy's Care Home "In honor of her mother". She was also part owner of Cultivating Minds Counseling Group. Vanessa expressed herself through one of many hobbies which was art. She loved painting and drawing. Many will miss her contagious smile and joyous laugh. Vanessa was known for her sense of humor and a caring heart for her family and friends. She knew how to give unconditional love and always saw "Nothing" but the best in everyone. Vanessa overcame every obstacle that she came across and gave God all the glory. Her strength surpassed understanding, as she would say often she tried to live her life right because she has to get to the pearly gates. Take your rest sweet angel you will truly be missed.
Vanessa Joyce Jones-Wilson was born on March 13, 1967 in Gadsden, AL to the late Earnest Nathaniel Jones, Sr. and the late Barbara "Nancy" Jones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother, Earnest Nathaniel Jones Jr. "Pee Wee"; her sister, Christie Jones Stevens; her son, Earnest Nathaniel Jones IV; grandmother, Betty Winston; special and dear aunt, Gail "Poon" Evans and Lavonia Laster; uncle, Stanley "Bam" Winston Sr.; nephew, Fabian Jones; cousin, Stanley "Jake" Winston Jr.
Vanessa's Legacy will live on in her precious devoted husband, James "Cool" Wilson; her children, whom she adored, Cierra Jones, Tierra (Kwamaine) Thomas "Tinkerbell" and Nathaniel "Nayt" Jones all of Gadsden, AL; her brother, Danny (Doris) Ray Jones; three sisters, Charlotte "Lil bit" Jones, Fonda "Nook" Jones of Gadsden, Al and Lafonda "Rank"(Michael) Kirkland of Ft. Worth, Texas. Vanessa leaves to cherish her memories: twelve grandchildren whom she referred to as the loves of her life, Takaylor "KK" Jones, DeIijahleigh "Mya" Jones, Destiana "Juicy" Sharpe, Mirakle Sharpe, Takorian Jones, DeAysha "Lil Bitty" Sharpe, Octavious "BoyBoy" Jones, Erionna "Berry" Snow, Zaleria "Leri" Thomas, Dallas Bennett, Hasiin and O'Hara Jones; her God Children: Dorian Macon, Delicia Macon, Jamaya Pierce, Jordan Heard, Joycelyn (Devonto) Ray, Deairavan Buford, Bobby Joe Williams, Rodney Jones, Sheilisa Vinson, Sherricka (Ricky) Brown, Jameika Brown Suttles and A'lydia (Derrick) Mcfee-Gibbs and Myra McCray. Vanessa loved her entire family. Special thanks to her aunts Lucille (Freddie) Timmons, Helen (Larry) Poole, Irene Bufford, and Ernestine Bufford and Sylvia (Jarvis) Holderfield; Special uncles, Fred (Inez) Winston, Harry(Wanda) Winston, Darryl (Tameka) Hamilton, Special Cousins: Valencia Bush, Xzavier "Eagle", Lafarrish Winston, Corey (Jazmine) Winston and Brandon "Meathead" Winston, LeTunga Kimble, Kathy, McShone, and Tonya Jackson, Special Nieces: Cynthia Carlisle, Angela Jones, Ikise Williams, Amerald (Wesley) Meadows, Emerald Williams, Princess Morgan, Latayjah Jones and Jaylynn Wilson. Nephew, Princeton (Jamicia) Jones; Special Friends: Deidra Snow, Leisa Finister, Sonya Lee Watkins, Tamatha (Jimmy) Dubose, Valerie Byers, Frankie (Pastor Huff) and Jonathon Sanders.
