REV. ARCHIE OTTO HANNER, SR. – Age 97, passed away Saturday, September 18, 2021. He was born March 3, 1924, to the late Wade and Daulphine Hanner in the town of Cedar Bluff, in Cherokee County, Alabama. He was a World War II Army Veteran, employee of Crane Foundry for 30 years, baptized and ordained at Second St. James Baptist Church. During this time he formerly pastored three (3) churches throughout his journey. His longest pastoral was at Hopewell Baptist Church in Dalton, GA. After retiring, he returned to Second St. James for fellowship. Rev. Hanner was married to his beloved wife, Milvyn for seventy-five years, and he was a dedicated patron covering five generations. He was preceded by his wife, Milvyn, Brothers, John Philpot, Morrell Perkins and Sister, Mary Lee Hanner, along with three children Reverend Charles Nicholson, Archie Hanner, Jr, Patricia Vaughn, and one son-in- law, Michael Farmer. He leaves behind Sons and daughters-in-law, Juanita Nicholson, Rev. James & Lois Hanner, Shirley Hanner, Jerry & Sheila Hanner, Freddie & Dorothy Hanner, Terry Hanner, Sr., Cecil Hanner, Sr., Rev. Tommy Hannah; Daughters and sons-in-law, Larry Vaughn, Lottie Farmer, Milvyn Ann & Renaldo Hilt; twenty three grandchildren; fifty-three great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Homegoing Celebration will be Sunday, September 26, 2021 at 2:30 P. M. at the Willis Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jimmy Ingram as the Eulogist. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 1:00 P. M. until 2:30 P. M. Interment, Chattanooga National Cemetery on Tuesday, September 28, 2021 at 12:30 P. M.
