In his early years of life, he joined Ebenezer A. M. E. Church, where he served and attended faithfully until his health declined. As a young man, he served as Superintendent of the Sunday School and taught the Young Adult Class. Later, he became a member of the Trustee Board, Steward Board, Senior Choir, as well as the Male Choir. He served as a Church Class Leader for over 40 plus years until he was called to his eternal rest.
Jerry was educated in the Greene County School System and graduated from F. T. Corry High School in 1969. After graduation, he went to work for Central Soya in Athens, Georgia. He continued his work career at Universal Rundle in Union Point, Georgia before transitioning to the City of Greensboro Street Department where he worked until his retirement.
On August 10, 1975, Jerry was united in holy matrimony to Shirley L. (Rhodes) Wynn. To this union two sons were born, Jamel Tymon Wynn and Carlos Mikkel Wynn. Jerry was dependable and a pillar of strength. He was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, exceptional brother and uncle, a kind soul and a good friend.
On Thursday, September 16, 2021, Jerry was called home to eternal peace. He leaves to cherish his memories a loving wife of 46 years, Shirley L. (Rhodes) Wynn; two sons, Jamel Wynn (Jermica) of Danielsville, GA and Carlos Wynn (Kesha) of Statham, GA; four granddaughters: Taelor, Oliviyah, lyana and Londyn; one brother, Eugene Wynn of Sparta, GA; two sisters, Annie Smith (Ulysses) of Athens, GA and Julia White (Ricky) of Greensboro, GA; two sisters-in-laws, Nettie Mae Wynn of White Plains, GA and Evelyn Wright (Glenn) of Greensboro, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
