Words of Comfort will be given by Reverend Kenneth Tinsley. Services may be viewed Facebook Live from the "Shipp's Funeral Home" Facebook page.
Mr. Eddie Gene Moore, also known as "Moe", "Genie Boy", "Mr. Eddie", or simply "Dad", was born on August 7, 1956 to Mr. Linwood Moore and the late Mrs. Lydia Ware Moore in Baker County, Georgia. In 1957, he moved to Newark, New Jersey, and was baptized at an early age at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. He attended Barringer High School and graduated in 1974. He was then employed with his cousins Champ and Menette at Champs Auto Shop, where he found an interest in auto mechanics and drag racing. He was known as “Blue Goose 646”.
As a young boy, Eddie's cousin, Charles Childs, introduced him to horses, and Eddie developed a strong passion for the cowboy lifestyle. Throughout his years he perfected his craft as a "Black Cowboy" on the East Coast, through the buying, training, and selling quarter horses from New Jersey to the Midwest. He also competed in team penning competitions up and down the east coast, winning many trophies and buckles.
During his later years, Eddie took pride in his position as Supervising Lieutenant for Dynamic Security, Inc. at the Department of Family and Children Services building in Dougherty County, Georgia. During his tenure, everyone grew to love Mr. Eddie.
Eddie met the late Lorraine Askew Moore at an early age where they later became a couple and had two children, Tariq and Terrance. Years later, they relocated to Albany, Georgia where they later got married. The couple built a home and life together. When you saw one, you saw the other. They were inseparable, and had a bond like no other.
Eddie was called home to eternal rest on September 11, 2021. He was preceded in death by his wife Lorraine Askew Moore and his mother Lydia Moore.
Eddie leaves to cherish his loving and fondest memories: his two sons, Tariq (Tanise) Moore, Terrance (Ebony) Moore; grandchildren Brandan, Kaden, Tristian, Trinity; his father, Linwood Moore, his one sister, Linda, 5 brothers Lynwood “Chubby”, Wayne, Tony, Terry, and Chris, and a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
My deepest condolences to the Moore and Askew family. I will always remember the love Eddie had for his family and horses. May you RIP with your beloved Lorraine. Enola Stevenson Boohene

My deepest sympathy to the Moore family. DFCS will not be the same without Mr. Eddie. He was the foundation of that office. He knew the comings and goings like no one else. He could tell from a person's facial expressions if they were ok or not, and if he thought you weren't ok he'd try to fix it. He will truly be missed!

Mr. Eddie was a one of a kind. I was with DFCS for over 9.5 years and during my entire time with the agency he has always spoke encouraging words to uplift you. I can remember when DFCS was across the street and I thought he was so mean, but little did I know he was a "gentle" giant. Until we meet again Mr. Eddie take your rest. DFCS want be the same without you. RIL Mr. & Mrs. Eddie (Lo) Moore Monica & Robert McPherson Albany, GA

This is really a tough pill to swallow. I was informed on Saturday that Mr. Eddie, and his wife both passed away. I had not seen you since last year when I had to come to the DFCS office because of technical issues I had with my computer. Of course this was during the pandemic, and I had my mask on. When I went to the security desk, I asked, is Mr. Eddie here? The guy said you were in the break room. When I walked in with my mask on, you were eating lunch. I said hey Mr. Eddie, you don't know who I am do you? You said, yeah I know who you are, how you think I don't know you, and we both laughed. Whether I was working in the office, or working from home, Mr. Eddie was my go to person. He knew everyone and everything in that building. In other words, Mr. Eddie was the man!! I'll miss our talks and laughs, and I'll just miss you. Mr. Eddie, I won't say goodbye, rather I'll see you on the other side. Just know, you've really hurt me with this one.

Indeed a sad time for us all who have been a part of 200 W Oglethorpe in some form or another. I am going to miss going by the security office "to speak" whenever I had to be at the building BECAUSE if he caught me b4 I exited the building he would say "hey Mrs. Hollis, u wasn't gonna come by to speak". HEY MR EDDIE IM IN THE BUILDING TODAY TO CHANGE MY PASSWORD...SEE YA LATER...UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN...TAKE YOUR REST IN YOUR ETERNAL HOME. In deepest sympathy, Michelle Hollis/4th floor/suite 402
