Mrs. Eleanor Carney Stearman, 83, of Elizabethtown, KY died Monday August 30,2021 at Baptist Health Hardin.

Mrs. Stearman was a Hardin County native and the daughter of the late William and Louise Simpson Carney.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dr. William Carney and a sister Ora Beam Dennis.

In 1960, Mrs. Stearman, a licensed Funeral Director, along with her husband, Lee, opened and operated the Hart County Funeral Home later known as Stearman Funeral Home. She was a past member of the National Funeral Directors Association as well as the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky. She served as the the Deputy Coroner for Hart County and was co-owner of the True Value Hardware Store. Mrs. Stearman was known as an accomplished organist.

She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Lee Stearman, of Elizabethtown, KY; one son, Greg Stearman (Denise) of Louisville, KY; one grandson, Stephan Stearman of Austin, TX, one granddaughter, Logan Stearman of Louisville, KY, one step grandson, Tavi Gallego of Louisville, KY; her step mother, Laura Been Carney, Louisville, KY; two step brothers, Dr. Jeffery Been of Elizabethtown, KY and Scott Been of Louisville, KY.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 4, 2021 in the Bardstown City Cemetery.
