Obituary For Dorothy McClain

Dorothy Faye “Doris”Ross McClain, 76 of 1459 Williamson Rd. Kingstown, NC passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at Wendover Hospice in Shelby. She was born on July 16, 1945 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Eddie Ross and the late Dorinda Jones Ross.

“Doris” was formerly with Cleveland Mills and Artee Industries where she worked until her health declined. She was a member of Hopper’s Chapel Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir, Praise Team and was a former usher. “Doris” was a very bubbly, spontaneous and outgoing person who loved her family and church. She enjoyed making her own clothes and had a sense of style and dress that was uniquely her own. She also enjoyed cooking. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, J. P. Ross, J.W. Ross, Randolph Ross, Rudolph Ross, Robert Lee Ross and Woodrow Ross and sisters, Minnie Mae Montgomery, Margaret Ann Starnes, Sally Ann McClain and Annie Roach.

She leaves to cherish her memory to her brother, Bobby Ross (Barbara); her fiancée, Gerry Durham; her niece and caretaker, Dorene Ross; brother-in-laws, Rick Starnes and Perry Huskey; a sister-in-law, Sylvia Ross; special friends, Anita Gingles and Sheila Brooks and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service for Ms. McClain will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Hoppers Chapel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2:30 PM until 3:00 PM at the church. Burial will take place at Shiloh A.M.E. Zion Church Cemetery in Grover.
