Obituary For Delores Jones Rucker

On August 6, 1964, the Lord blessed the union of the late Mr. Henry Jones and the late Mrs. Flora Jones with a daughter, Delores Jones, affectionally known as Dee Dee. She was born and raised in Barnesville, Lamar County, GA. Delores received her education from the Lamar County School System and graduated with the Lamar County Comprehensive High School Class of 1983. Accepting Christ as her savior at an early age, she joined the East Mt. Sinai Baptist Church where she served on the hospitality committee until her health began to fail. Delores would later meet the love of her life, Mr. Monte Arness Rucker. They were united in holy matrimony; and two sons were born to their union, Monte Jr. and Montaveous. After graduating from high school, Delores worked in various industrialized facilities to include The William Carter Co., Dundee Mills, Fashion Industry, and Norcom. Though she was challenged by health issues, she desired to remain active and creative. This led to a new hobby in decorating for social events. She eventually established her own business, Rucker’s Creative Design. After several years of work, she made the decision to dissolve her business due to recurring health issues.

On July 28, 2021, the Lord decided that it was time for Delores to end this earthly journey. He called her name, and she entered into eternal rest. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Master Ricky Lyons and Henry Jones, Jr. She leaves to mourn her passing her loving and devoted husband, Monte A. Rucker of Griffin, GA; her sons and their wives, Monte A. (Leydy) Rucker, Jr. of Griffin, GA and Montaveous (Abby) Rucker of Barnesville, GA; a cousin she viewed as the daughter she never had, Santae Jones of Barnesville, GA; grandchildren, Mason, Leilana, Tailynn, Taivynn and Javion; sister and brothers, Marcia Lockhart and Dennie Lyons of Barnesville, GA and Frederick (Boo Boo) (Geneva) Jones of Thomaston, GA; a cousin she loved like a brother, Jimmy (Renee) Harris of Thomaston, GA; a special aunt with whom she bonded, Narvis Jean (James) Jackson of Griffin, GA; other aunts and uncles, Robin (Randy) Foster, Johnny Jackson, Fletcher (Alberta) Harris, Phillip (Allison) Harris all of Barnesville, GA and Grady Jackson of St. Louis, MO; sisters and brothers-in-law, Miranda Moreland and Rashad Rucker of Griffin, GA, Lisa (Kenny) Wiggings and Bernard Rucker of Philadelphia, PA; aunts and uncles-in-law, Betty Rucker, Susie Gilbert, and Lonnie Gilbert of Griffin, GA; special cousins and family, Larry (Margaret) Fluellyn, John Hardaway, Brenda Hardaway, Lewis Sullivan, and Shontia Evans all of Barnesville, GA, Feon Means of Fayetteville, GA and Angela Clemons, Clarence (Migon) of Griffin, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her tremendously.
