Ernest Warren, III

Ernest Warren III was born to parents Ernest Warren Jr. and Rosie (Billingsley) Warren on October 3, 1951, in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the fourth of six children and grew up in a Christian home accepting Christ at a young age. He dedicated his life to Christ, learning about the Lord and His Word as a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri.

Ernest graduated from Central High, and studied Art at Lincoln University. He spent several years working construction alongside his dad (Ernest Jr) and spent the remainder of his career in service as a bus driver for the KCATA Transportation Company.

He was most known for his beautiful smile and quiet demeanor and lovely laughter which could brighten anyone’s day. Ernest’s sweet spirit and kind heart will be forever reflected in our lives. His laughter will forever resound in our homes. He had a passion for jazz and art and in his free time, one could always find him drawing and writing poetry. During his younger years, Ernest painted many pictures and his creative talent will be cherished in his family memories forever.

Ernest was a healthy man that believed in taking care of the earthy body the good Lord blessed him with. After retirement from KCATA Transportation Company as a Bus Driver, he spent his free time enjoying life, relaxing, and working around the house. Ernest was a huge Kansas City Chiefs fan and loved to watch the NBA games with family and friends.

Earnest married the love of his life, Doyin Adedeji in 2014, who survives him. He is also survived by his son Kayon Betts. He leaves to cherish her memory: his dear wife Doyin Warren, his son Kayon Betts, Kayon’s grandma Kaye Betts, two brothers: Douglas (Rosa Lee) Warren, and Delano (Yolanda) Warren; one fellow: Lareesa (Craig) Nelson; two nephews: David Warren, and Broderick Nelson; six nieces: Janice Avila, Beverly Warren, Breanna Warren, Katrina Warren, Whitney Nelson, and Chloe Nelson, as well as a host of great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Ernest was preceded in death by: his father, Ernest Warren Jr.; his mother, Rosie Warren (Billingsley); his brother, Freddie Warren; the mother of his son, Aretha Betts and his nephew, Bradford C. Nelson.

Ernest was called home on July 22, 2021.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, July 31, 2021, 9:00am at XII Gates Memorial Gardens. hosted by Macedonia Baptist Church, Kansas City, Missouri. Service conducted by Watkins Heritage Chapel.
