Obituary For Ms. Candis Polk Gaddy

CANDIS GADDY (Monk), the daughter of the late Willie and Estell Bellemey Polk was born May 8, 1947 in Anson County, NC. She departed her life on Friday, July 9, 2021 at Wadesboro Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Gaddy accepted Christ at an early age and attended Dunston Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Polkton, NC.

Mrs. Gaddy was preceded in death by three brothers, Lester Polk, Ed Polk, Willie Brown Polk Jr. and two sisters, Evelyn Brown and Emma Ruth Gaddy.

She leaves to cherish her memories her loving children, Lisa Smith (Dale) of Polkton, NC, Phyllis Gaddy and Martha Gaddy of Wadesboro, NC, and Jackie Rushing (Donald) of Marshville, NC; nine (9) grandchildren and seventeen (17) great grandchildren. Three sisters, Mary Polk and Annie Taylor of Polkton, NC and Sarah Burns of Lilesville, NC. Two brothers, Ernest Polk (Dana) and Henry Polk of Polkton, NC. One aunt, Ernestine Riggins King of Tabor City, NC. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. A special friend, Ronald Pemberton.

The Homegoing Services will be on Thursday, July 15, 2021, 1:00pm, Smith's Memorial Chapel, 604 Salisbury Street, Wadesboro, North Carolina. Interment will be in the family plot of Williams Cemetery, Polkton, North Carolina.

The public viewing will be on Wednesday, July 14, 2021 from 3:45-6:00pm at Smith's Funeral Home.

Face Mask/Coverings are required for entry into the funeral home and are to be worn at all times. Thank you for your cooperation.

To the Polk Family, I am very sorry for the lost of a great person. Candi and myself worked together for many years and she always had me cracking up. She always had a funny story to tell . I can just closed my eyes and see us working on the production line together and she's talking crazy, but make no mistake when it was time to be serious, that's what it was. Always a true person.
