Obituary For MRS. GENEVA GADDY GATEWOOD

MRS. GENEVA GADDY GATEWOOD

Mother Geneva Rachel Gaddy Gatewood was born September 26, 1920 in Anson County, North Carolina to the late Clyde S. Gaddy and Lillie Davis Gaddy. She made a peaceful transition from her earthly blessed life of holiness on May 6, 2021. As a child, she joined Poplar Hill Missionary Baptist Church where her father served as Chairman of the Deacon Board, and her mother served in the Missionary Circle. Her parents set strong examples of what it meant to serve a true and living God in spirit and in truth. As a young adult, Mother Gatewood was an active member in her church where she served faithfully as the secretary of the Sunday School. She later joined West Rocky Ford Missionary Baptist Church after her holy matrimony to Mr. Wade Hampton Gatewood in 1939. Their holy union was eventually blessed with ten boys and four girls. The children wholeheartedly loved and respected their mother and father. Their emphasis on the Word of God and the value of education resulted in all 14 children graduating from high school and pursuing various levels of higher education. Mother Gatewood served as her children’s constant spiritual teacher, holding Bible classes at home for edification of the Ten Commandments and the Holy Scriptures. Her commission as a pastor’s wife began shortly after her husband was called into the ministry in 1951. Their blessed spiritual journey together as Reverend and Mrs. Wade H. Gatewood (Pastor and Pastor’s wife) spanned almost 60 years of their marriage in nine church congregations. As a true woman of God in the Body of Christ, Mother Gatewood had “A Charge to Keep” and a God to glorify. She was a blessing and a guiding light in her family, church, and community. Her journey in life was a living testimony of love, humility, virtue, wisdom, holiness, faith, patience, perseverance, and God’s “Amazing Grace”. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. (Matthew 5:16) A Faithful Daughter of Cherished Parents: Mr. Clyde S.
