Manning, SC
Frances Ann Scott Bennett, daughter of Inez Wilson Scott Taylor and the late Frank Scott, Jr. and stepdaughter of the late Lucious Taylor, Sr., was born September 24, 1950 in Sumter County.
She received her former education in the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age, Frances attended Mulberry Baptist Church and later served as a member of various churches in Washington, DC where she lived and worked in Dry Cleaning for over twenty years. Upon returning to South Carolina, she joined Mt. Moriah UME Church in Alcolu, South Carolina where she served on the Usher Board, Benevolent Board, Stewardess Board, Class Leader and Voices of Mt. Moriah Choir.
She was employed at Korn Industries until her health declined.
Frances was joined in holy matrimony to the late Arthur Bennett and this union was blessed with four children.
Early Friday morning, May 21, 2021, God called Frances Ann Scott Bennett from labor to rest quietly and peacefully at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte, NC. She leaves to cherish her precious memories a loving daughter, Kimley (David) McLeod of Charlotte, NC; three caring sons: Terry (Fiana) Bennett of Laurel, MD, Larry Bennett of Manning, SC and Ashley (Tiara) Bennett of Washington, DC; four sisters: Barbara (Selvin) Nelson of Alcolu, SC, Deloris Chestnut of Sumter, SC, Judith Taylor of Bridgeport, CT and Dr. Shirley Taylor Ballard of Lawrenceville, GA; four brothers: Richard Taylor and Thomas Taylor both of Manning, SC, Lucious Taylor, Jr. of Sumter, SC and Lee B. (Andrea) Taylor of Stratford, CT; fifty grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; a special friend; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Graveside services for Mrs. Bennett will be held 11:00 AM Friday, May 28, 2021 at Mt. Moriah UME Church Cemetery, 8738 Plowden Road, Alcolu, SC.
The family is receiving friends at her residence, 1161 Woodard Road, Manning, SC from 3PM til 8 PM daily.
