Mrs. Wilhemina “Renee” Mackey Gill was born September 18, 1960 in Cleveland County, NC to Christine Gidney and the late Willie James Mackey. She departed her earthly life on Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at her home in Kings Mountain, NC.

Renee graduated from Bessemer City High School in 1978, attended Johnson C. Smith University in Charlotte, NC and completed course studies at Anthem College Online. She enjoyed her work as a sales associate with Handy City before becoming an invaluable asset to Sara Lee/Hanes Brands, Inc. as a shipping clerk for over 30 years. She also assisted customers with tax preparation as a Senior Tax Advisor with H&R Block and EZ Income Tax in Kings Mountain.

Renee was baptized by Rev. D.C. Wilson at Ebenezer Baptist Church in 1977, where she remained a member, even during her decline in health. She served as a member of the Young Adult Choir and the Usher Board. She was well-known for preparing savory family meals for her family or anyone who stopped by. She was a well-known encourager to everyone whose paths she crossed.

In addition to her father, Renee was preceded in death by her daughters, Nicole Gill and Jessica “Christy” Gill; sister, Emory Griggs; and brother, Ronald Hush.

She leaves behind to cherish precious memories: mother, Christine Mackey; son, Brandon Gill; daughters, Kerri Gill and Ciara “CJ” Mackey; grandchildren, D’Erica Davis, Zachary Davis and Kaleb Gill; sisters, Sheila Mackey, Janine Wilson and Deidre Setzer (Lenleslie, Jr.); brother, Reginald Hush (Tyra); nieces, Janeva and Jaelyn Wilson, Janice Hush and Chantae Griggs; nephew, Darnell Griggs; godchildren, Kenyattis, Erika, Erin, Tiffani, Arriel and Andreiana Surratt; special brother-in-law, Nevin Wilson; cherished best friends from childhood, Angela Surratt and Mary Patterson; and a host of relatives and friends.
