In a twinkling of an eye on Saturday, May 15, 2021, our beloved, Wanda Lou Broadnax Peatross departed this life and transitioned from her earthly not at home life to her next life. Wanda was born to the late Henry Forrest Broadnax and Viola Elizabeth Broadnax on June 4, 1954 in Eden, NC. Born and raised in Pittsylvania County she attended Pittsylvania County Schools and graduated from Tunstall High School located in Dry Fork, VA in 1972. She was United in holy matrimony to John Peatross on February 21, 1987.Wanda joined United in Christ Ministries in Eden, NC under the leadership of the late founder, Bishop Christopher A. Carter, where she attended faithfully until her health began to fail. Wanda was affectionately known as “Banker”. Because she was a woman of great integrity and was so trustworthy, many depended on her to be their personal banker by having her hide funds fro safe keeping. She loved her family with great passion and her love permeated into her neighborhood. It was not strange for her to prepare meals for the entire neighborhood during the holidays. She may have biologically birthed four children, but she was called “mom” by many who will surely miss her. Preceding also in death her sister, Catherine Dunston, five brothers, William, Fred, Forrest (Frog) and Thomas Broadnax and A.D. Scales.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband; John Terry Peatross, two daughters; Pattie Le Faye Broadnax, Eden, NC, LaTonya Hampton Short (Harvey) of the not at home, two god-daughters; Barbara Jones, Cascade, VA, Rebecca BlCkstock, Chatham, VA, two sons; Courtney Darnell BroanX and Shontae Devon Broadnax of the not at home, godson; Sam Hampton, Eden, NC, brother; Larry Darnell Broadnax (Betty), Groosecreek, SC, sister-in-law; Audrey Broadnax; Stoneville, NC, two granddaughters; Tynesha Shuffle, Cheryl Easley and Victoria Perkins, great granddaughter; Joniya Wood, two grandsons; Keshawn Moyer and Kamoni Mitchell, two great grandsons; Jaydon Martin and Josiah Wood and a host of other relatives and friends.
