Iris Shanea “Missy” Williams-Britten was born on August 6, 1987 to Janis Williams and Roosevelt Derozan. She was celebrated in life as a beautiful daughter, a caring sister, a loving wife a devoted mother and a loyal friend.

Iris’ Christian life began at Gloryland Baptist Church where she was baptized by the late Reverend John D. Lands. She was educated in the schools of East Baton Rouge Parish and upon graduation, she pursued further study at Southern University (Baton Rouge) and later in Dallas. Texas. Iris enjoyed employment in the medical field where she worked at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital and most recently at Baton Rouge General Hospital.

Iris was a happy, free-spirited young woman who loved life and enjoyed family time, as well as giving back to others. She loved to cook, (always trying new recipes), travel and spend quality time with her mom, husband, children, sisters, friends and family members including her beloved dog, Nala.

Beautiful memories of her life and times spent with Iris will continue to be cherished by… her mother, Janis Williams, step-father Gregory Williams, husband, Claude “Muff” Britten, children, Kaydon, Ja’Kayla, and Kyleigh; brothers Rickey (Kesha), Bryant (Lydia), Marcus and Kydris; sisters, Monique (Reginald), Monica (Anthony), Kiera, Demetris and Britiany. Iris will be remembered with lots of love by her aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and numerous friends… including her godsister Winesha Lemon and a special cousin/friend Joshua Brown.

Iris was preceded in death by her father, Roosevelt Derozan, paternal grandparents Phillip and Iola Derozan, maternal grandfather, Hervy Williams Sr., numerous aunts, uncles, loving family members and close friends.

Iris’ vibrant, spirit and beautiful smile will truly be missed by all those who loved her.
