Ms. Margaret Elizabeth Hemphill was born December 4, 1953 in York County, South Carolina to the late Henry Hemphill and the late Margaret Thompson Hemphill Watson. She entered into eternal rest on Monday, February 22, 2021 at her home in Gastonia, North Carolina.

Margaret attended Ashbrook High School, Gastonia, North Carolina, class of 1972. She was a faithful member at St. John Missionary Baptist Church of Gastonia, North Carolina for over 30 years where she was a member of the gospel choir, Hymn choir, WOW ministry, pastor’s aide, missionary ministry, flower ministry, and a faithful Sunday School member and Bible study member.

She worked for Gaston County School system as a cafeteria worker at Ashbrook High School for over 18 years before she retired. She was a loving mother, loving grandmother, aunt, sister, sister-in-law and friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry Hemphill, and Margaret Thompson Hemphill Watson and granddaughter: DeQuasha Glenn.

Precious Memories shall always be cherished by her son: Benjamin “Mark” Hemphill of Gastonia, NC; grandchildren: Markel Hemphill, KeyMar Hemphill, Tarjae Grier, and Jah Tate; three great grand babies; special niece: LaToya Phillips; special nephews: Dominique Wilson, Antonio Wilson, and Fred Hemphill, Jr.; brothers: William Thompson (Sallie) of Kings Mountain, NC, John Hemphill of Gastonia, NC, James Hemphill (Joann) of Gastonia, NC, Billy Joe Hemphill (Mary) of Gastonia, NC, Fred Hemphill, Sr. (Tina) of Gastonia, NC, Clyde Hemphill of Grover, NC, Bruce Hemphill of Gastonia, NC, Alfred Hemphill and companion Sherry of Gastonia, NC and Walter Anderson of York, SC; sister Christie Pressley (Steve) of Clover, SC; aunts: Alberta Neely of Charlotte, NC and Ruth Hemphill of Charlotte, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Walk thru viewing will be at the funeral home on Friday from 2 until 8.

A private service will be held by the family.

Interment: Armstrong Cemetery, Gastonia

Masks are required at all services and the private service will be live on Saturday at 12 noon.
