Obituary For Kathy Patricia Spates

Ms. Kathy Spates, of Tallahassee, Florida, transitioned from life temporal to life eternal on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, in Big Bend Hospice.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 1, 2021, at 11:00 A.M. in the New Liberty Hill Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery located at 5239 Liberty Road Bascom, Florida 32423, with Pastor Elder Dr. Nelson D. Wilson, Reverend Joseph Curry and Reverend Leroy McLeroy, officiating.

A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2021, from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM at Vann Funeral Home.

Due to COVID-19 pandemic, all state and local guidelines for social distancing will be practiced for the safety of the public and especially the bereaved family.

She leaves to celebrate a lifetime of lasting memories and love, a devoted family:

A Son: Deon Spates of Tallahassee, Florida

3 Brothers: Johnny (Sandra) Spates of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; Ira Spates of Palm Coast, Florida and Lucious (Bonnie) Spates of Greenwood, Florida

4 Sisters: Bobbie Benbow of Campbellton, Florida; Betty Gould and Mildred (Rev. Leroy) McLeroy both of Bascom, Florida and Shirley Spates of Tallahassee, Florida

And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowful friends.

I met Kathy while working at Shepherd Center. We became friends. Our son's Deon and Brandon are the same age and their birthday's are a day apart. I will always remember her generosity, kindness, and friendship. She was a good person and will truly be missed.
