Robert Erskine Beasley, known affectionately by many as ‘Bobby’ was born on October 11, 1932 in Crawfordville, Georgia to Hushel and Eva Edwards Beasley. As a young boy, he accepted Christ while attending the New Hope Baptist Church which will also be his final resting place. He departed this life and was called Home on January 21, 2021 in Augusta, Georgia. After graduating from Crawfordville High School, he moved to Atlanta and worked several jobs before serving in the Army during the Korean War, where he rose to the rank of Corporal. While in the Army, he learned to cook which he loved because everybody knows Bobby loved to eat. After his service in the Army, he furthered his education at Albany State University. While attending Albany State, he began courting his future wife after meeting on a blind date. Following his heart, he departed Georgia in 1957 and moved to Los Angeles, California where he resided until 1992. Upon arrival, he married and from this union had three children who were the ‘apple of his eye’. While in California, he continued to serve his country as a civil servant and began a career with the United States Postal Service (USPS) in 1960. He worked his way up from mail sorter, to a residential Letter Carrier and then a business Mail Carrier. In 1991, he retired from the USPS with more than 30 years of civil service. He was preceded in death by his parents Hushel and Eva Edwards Beasley, siblings Gwendolyn Andrews, Melvinia Hendricks, Edward Beasley, Juanita Sanders and Fannie Vaughn. He leaves behind to mourn his sisters Wilhemina (John) Mitchell and Ruby Mae Coven, former spouse Ida Strickland Beasley, daughters Michelle (Ernie) Beasley-Bonhomme, Chayra Beasley, son Stephen Beasley and a host of extended family and close friends from coast to coast.
