Obituary For Leon Sandifer

Mr. Leon Sandifer was born on July 26, 1948, in Greensboro, NC to the late Mr. Edgar Lee Sandifer and Mrs. Geneva Biggers Sandifer. On Monday, January 4, 2021, he departed his earthly life at Moses Cone Hospital following a very brief illness.

Leon attended Dudley High School in the Guilford County School system. Although he did not graduate, Leon’s knowledge and experience in the areas of Road Construction afforded him a very lucrative career as an entrepreneur. He was the CEO, Founder, and Owner of Leon Sandifer Construction Company. His career provided him the opportunity to travel internationally doing what he loved so dearly. He spent time in Haiti, Iran, and other foreign countries as a trailblazer establishing road transportation services in areas that wouldn’t otherwise be privy to such advances.

Leon shared a very special and unbreakable bond with his twin sister, Yvonne. Their undying love for one another was incomparable and undeniable as only TWINS can understand. He was married to and divorced Ms. Karen Davis Sandifer in the 1980s and they have remained life-long friends. He loved traveling, fast cars, nice clothes, Kangols and Fedoras, and was always the life of the party. He possessed a very vibrant spirit and will always be remembered for his infectious laughter and larger than life presence.

He was preceded in death by both his parents, Mr. Edgar Lee Sandifer and Mrs. Geneva Biggers Sandifer; Five brothers, Charles, Richard, Riley, Roscoe, and Edgar “June” Sandifer; One sister, Catherine Clark.

He leaves a legacy of love to cherish his memory: one daughter, LaShon R. Hill of Greensboro, NC. He was also a dedicated father to Monica Hill of Denver, CO, Anthony (Janet) Hill of Huntersville, NC, and Larry Davis of High Point, NC; Two siblings: Clayton Sandifer (Sheila) and Yvonne Ridley (his twin) both of Greensboro, NC. His legacy continues with nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends.

A public viewing will be held Thursday, January 7, 2021, from 4 pm-6 pm in the Cassie Coote-Brown Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home. A private chapel service will be held in the Cassie Coote-Brown Chapel of Perry J. Brown Funeral Home.
